Title: Stargate SG-1 (1997 Television Series)
Label: Milan Records
Artist: David Arnold
Rating: 1/5
Customer rating - 1 out of 5

I can not believe that this album received such positive comments. I bought it because I liked the orginial Stargate Soundtrack by David Arnold and tho I do not watch the series frequently I still like its music. But this CD is just shameless money making. It contains only about 4 minutes of music from the TV-series composed by Joel Goldsmith, the rest of the 52 minutes is completly taken from the orginial movie recording. If you think you get to listen to new material on this one, forget it! All they did was to re-edit the Arnold score, blending sperate pieces of music into new ones or shortening others. The result is just aweful! Almost as if the laser of your CD-player is broken. The songs are not all homogeneous, but they remind one of a badly made video-clip. Jumping from one melody to the next without an introduction, stopping in the middle of a tact and so forth. By all means: don't buy this CD!

a core holding

this release started the important trend which combines the sacred and the profane, chanting monks with heavy female breating, angelic voices with earthy rhythms....I can't add much more to the 60+ reviews except that if you are looking for more like this release try delerium 'semantic spaces', mythos 'reality of a dreamer', david huff 'worldbeat', and christopher franke 'klemania'.

This Is Madonna?

As much as i look forward to a day at the beach, I know that every good thing in life has a consequence. Being a Madonna fan I felt obligated to check out the new release.
No matter how much I shifted and pulled I could not get comfortable with her hokey lyrics and stolen rhythms.
don't waste your energy trying to get into won't happen.

An Escapade, Soundscape, And Virtual Overflow Of Sound

Buy this album. Please, take my advice and buy this album. It is absolutely outstanding. Actually, this is an understatement. This album is too good to describe in simple, human words. It is a soundscape from the beginning to the end of this fantastic album, filled with awesome vocals by a number of female artists, including the marvelous sounding and thought-provoking lyrics by Kristy Thirsk, from a band called 'Rose Chronicles' and, one of my two personal favorites, Sarah McLachlan, who wrote the words to the song and sings the song, "Silence". Sorry about all the commas, I just had to get all that in. Also on this album is Sarah McLachlan's buddy on her full-length albums, Camille Henderson, who wrote and sang, by herself, the song, "Duende". Like I said, words cannot describe how great this album is, but it is an album that you will cherish for life like a piece of gold or something of that nature; you will never give it away or sell it to a used record store. The album, which also must be mentioned, has tons of Middle Eastern melodies on many of its songs, perhaps half or more of its songs. All of these melodies are absolutely superb and outstanding, but words cannot express with complete clarity and definition, this music.
