Title: Bridge Over Troubled Water/This Is The Night

A great voice

This guy can just sing. Really enjoyed "This Is the Night" while "Bridge Over Troubled Water" seems over produced, drowning out Clay's voice with an over-bearing instrumental and choral arrangement. I'd recommend it.

Title: Shadows Collide With People
Label: Warner Brothers
Artist: John Frusciante
Rating: 5/5
Customer rating - 5 out of 5

The latest album from John Frusciante is also his most refined. Previous works by Frusciante have at least partially been composed in his house, recorded and presumably mixed on a simple four track recorder. However, those products have been the basis for a loyal following of hardcore fans.
Those fans may give this album mixed reviews. There is no doubt, however, that the mainstream music press, and probably mainstream music listeners, will like this album more than his older stuff.
Other musicians performing on this album include fellow chili pepper band mates Chad Smith and Flea; as well as the young and talented Bicycle Thief multi-instrumentalist, Josh Klinghoffer - a friend and collaborator of Frusciante.
The album booklet is nice - with photos by Vincent Gallo (the musician/actor/director/writer/artist/model/architect/motorcycle racer, and now photographer) and complete lyrics. This is something of a change for JF, as some of his previous albums have somewhat unintelligible lyrics - mainly because he used his voice as more of an instrument than a delivery method for poetry.
On this album there is a mix of classic pop songs, experimental music, and deep meaningful tunes. Frusciante has honed his songwriting chops, along with his production skills. In the end, it's just another great album for fans to add to their repertoire.
Don't buy this in the hope that it will be a chili pepper album. The music is more experimental, but every bit as good. This album would be great for anyone looking for unique music that isn't restricted by motivations other than pure art.

Its no wonder that 'N Sync's new CD broke the the record for most albums sold in a week with a phenomenol 2.4 million sold. Its a great album with a little bit for everyone on it. NO STRINGS ATTACHED opens with the catchy inescapable hit "Bye Bye Bye." On this track they begin to rid of their soft appearance with a more edgier, harder sound than on their previous hits. On their next single "Its Gonna Be Me" they return to a dance beat similar to that of "Bye Bye Bye" with a little human beat box action care of Justin at the beginning. "Space Cowboy," written by JC, is not a bad song but definitely not my favorite track on the album, discusses what would happen if the world came to an end. An out of place guest appearance by Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes is also featured at the end of this track. Track 4, a remake of the late 80s Johnny Kemp hit "Just Got Paid" is surprising well done hip-hop type track. The only down part is hearing Chris rapping about Kool-Aid. He's 28. "It Makes Me Ill" is in my opinion the standout track. Produced by "Shek'speare" it has a true hip hop feel to it and JC and Justin pull off the leads wonderfully. "This I Promise You," produced by Richard Marx is a typical boy band ballad but definitely a good one. The title track, "No Strings Attached," written and produced by JC, is another edgier song with a strong dance/rock beat. "Digital Getdown" and "Bringin' Da Noise" are both nice fast paced songs but both are slightly cliched. Track 10, "That's When I ll Stop Loving You," written by guaranteed hit maker Diane Warren, is a beautiful love song but doesn't really say anything new. It is performed well, with the guys coming off with a sound very similar to Boyz II Men. "I'll Be Good For You," written by 'N Sync's "teen hearthrob" Justin Timberlake is a smooth well written R&B song. The final track, "I Thought She Knew," an acapella track is a song about misunderstandings in a relationship. It is also the only song on the album to feature leads from four of the group's members. Overall, this album has a wonderful assortment of music from numerous genres. Although there are some tracks that don't really hit the high points the rest of the album makes up for it. They have shown on this album that they're not just another boy band."
