My first Springsteen album

If you are in your car, and you happen to glance over at another driver and see a faraway, haunted look on her face ... it could be that she is listening to The Rising. It could be that she is grieving as she listens to "Into the Fire," or getting goosebumps as she listens to "The Rising," or praying as she listens to "My City of Ruins."
I have never owned a Springsteen album before, but I thank God for this one. Not only is it helping with the healing process since September 11, but it is a celebration of music's power. There are no "downer" songs on this CD, despite the content of some. They are simple and beautiful.
And if you don't find "The Fuse" one of the sexiest songs ever recorded, you must be semi-conscious.

Why not buy it?

Fatboy Slim, what a name. Did you know that Mr. Cook has had over 5 diferent bands? There's no doubt in my mind that Fatboy Slim is his best one.
You've come a Long Way, Baby is a great CD for those of us who just want to forget "meaningful" sometimes, and really just jam to music. 'The Rockafeller Skank' is a great driving song, to be included with Rob Zombie's 'Living Dead Girl', Lou Bega's 'Tricky Tricky', Santana's 'Smooth' and Faith Hill's 'This Kiss'. It's a great song to drive to, as long as you keep your attention on the road that is...
Praise You and Soul Surfing are the most meaningful songs on this CD, that isn't saying much, so if you like songs that have some substance to them, you might want to pass on this one. But if you are someone who's looking for something that's diferent, don't pass this CD up.

Too Many Genre's

I was referred over here from the Josh Groban page and have just listened to what was provided by ... . I really couldn't get into Charlotte Church's singing because she attempted to sing in too many genres. She sounds O.K. singing Carrick Fergus, an Irish Folk Ballad, but she then tries various classical and show tunes for which she doesn't seem suited right now. I guess she gave it a try but if falls far short of what you might expect with material like this. Her duet with Groban is a good showcase for Groban, but she sounds overwhelmed by a far superior and more mature voice. She should stick with Irish folk.
