Don't Listen!

If you're 'listening' to this work, you're totally missing the point. To understand what Eno's obviously intending here with "Neroli", you have to go back to his explanations of the origin of "Discrete Music", where Eno discovered the acoustical coloring of music played at liminal, barely-audible levels as an excellent way to provide an enriching aesthetic experience that enhances the space it's played in, as opposed to Muzak, which just takes up space. "Neroli" is perhaps the strongest gesture in this direction by Eno since "Discrete Music", in fact, and should only be played back at levels where the sound often disappears into the background noise of the room and the bell-like sonorities only occasionally rise above the hubbub. Anyone trying to listen to this like you'd listen to 99.999% of other CDs is missing the whole point! Shows a whole new generation of people who're doing 'ambient' how the Master does it; a critically-important work.

she's sultry and sensual now that she's solo!

I'm a pseudo-fan of the group Destiny's Child, so I took a chance on Beyonce's solo album. But I was blown away! The lyrics actually had some depth, the vocals were off the charts, and the beats kept me vibing for hours. It also had great appearances by Jay-Z, Outkast, and Luther Vandross. I'm glad I took the chance and bought this album, it'll be in my rotation for a while.
I hate to say it, but I hope she stays solo so that I can look forward to her next album!

Wonderful New Young Talent

What a find. For someone so young, his voice has a wonderfull warmth and passion. The album is for the most part wonderful, with his English pieces being his showcase. The foreign language songs, which grow on you with each listening, tend to be a bit too modernized to match his voice and don't tend to reach the same level of passion as the English. As with any young singer you notice a few inperfections, but still a joy to listen to over and over. The biggest disappointment is the duet between Mr. Groban and Ms. Church. Her performance is horrible, lacking the ability to match the quality of his voice in color, expression, range or power. Age is not helping her young voice.

a real winner!

This is what Outlaw music is all about. Coe could have cleaned and polished it, but then it'd lose it's edge. David get's better with age like Willie, Waylon, and Cash.
