Excellent singing by a neglected artist

Highly feted in her day, soprano Lucrezia Bori went into a serious decline in popularity following her retirement. By the 1960s she was strictly in the province of specialty collectors, not nearly as well-remembered as Ponselle, Muzio or Flagstad.
Though she did not possess a voice that incredible, but rather a smallish instrument, she was a singer of surprising musicality for that era and great variety. Not all of her records are fabulous--indeed, it is perhaps because she was a famous Violetta but her "Sempre libera" is so disappointing that she became forgotten so quickly--but in the great majority of them one hears a singer and artist of great imagination, musicality and control, singing with a bright but not grating tone and excellent phrasing. Highly recommended, especially to those who do not mind the sound of old records.

not bad but could be better..

This girl isn't very good with expressing herself very well lyrically. Some of her songs are very good and some are very bad. she needs help leaving the kid department and entering the adult category. it shows she has the potential in this CD. But with songs like "What It's Like To Be Me", "Bombastic Love" and "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" ya gotta wonder. The rest of the CD, especially the bonus songs were very beautiful. I didn't think she had it in her (the bonus songs), but I was shocked because she was so good and honest. .......

Amazing Artist

I love Clay Aiken, and I am a die-hard fan...I guess you could call me a "Claymate." The CD is really good, but I really would have liked to see some better-known writers (such as Neil Sedaka, who has said he would like to write for Clay) write some songs for the album and help to show off Clay's power and range. He does well on the songs here, but I know he's capable of better.A note to the negative reviewers: Most of you, I think, are either jealous of Clay of have nothing better to do. If you're going to write such horrible things about Clay, you should be doing something else with your time. You don't need to just blatantly come out and say "Clay sucks." It insults your own intelligence.
