vespertine - bombardment of whispers

Bjork has yet again crafted a marvelous piece of modern electronica which shows that it is entirely possible to evoke emotion from computer equipment. The songwriting on her latest disc feels indeed very icy. Xylophone melodies whisper their way around Bjork's ethereal voice, while thick drum lines drip from their frozen solidity. Bjork does an excellent job with the vocals on this CD and they are executed quite creatively. She often has multiple vocal tracks simultaneously and the choir of herself is beautiful on "Undo". Overall the album flows very well and I recommend it highly.

The score that defines Williams's career

More than 25 years after "Star Wars" initial release, what can be said about the film or its score that hasn't been said already? John Williams made music history with this classic 1977 score which has continued to be an important component of American pop culture. With this 1997 release, the original master tapes of the scoring sessions have been carefully restored to digital clarity and are presented, for the first time ever, in sequence as heard in the film. The "Main Title" requires no discussion; everyone who hasn't been living underground their entire life knows it by heart. "Binary Sunset" is a beautiful track using Ben Kenobi's theme to express Luke's desire to leave Tatooine, although Williams's original take on the scene can be found at the end of Disc One. The "Cantina Band" source music is a change of pace, written in the style of Benny Goodman. "TIE Fighter Attack" is still one of the greatest action cues ever written for the screen, and the album concludes with the grand "The Throne Room/End Title", bringing the score to a brilliant conclusion. Accept no other release: buy this disc and enjoy Williams's most memorable masterpiece.

Duran Duran fans are going to love this album!

They're back, and it looks like they haven't lost their touch. Quite remarkable considering that they haven't recorded anything together in almost twenty years. The first listen of the CD might be a little akward, because you're not sure what to expect, but after playing it a few times, you've already got your favourite tracks in your head. The band's signature sound is there, with some tracks reminiscent of their hit singles from the 80's.
Track 1 "Reach up for the Sunrise" is great and will have DD fans dancing and cheering. The momentum continues through tracks 2 and 3. Track 3 "What Happens Tomorrow" will remind you of their hit song "Ordinary World". It's tracks 4 through 8 which I have a little trouble with. They lack the melody and lyrical beauty of some of the other songs, with track 5 "Bedroom Toys" the only really bad song in the bunch, and track 6 "Nice" is probably the best of them.
It's track 9 "Chains" which in my opinion is the gem of the album. It has an incredibly beautiful melody, and I found myself listening to it again and again. The last three songs are all very good, and round up the album nicely. This album is rich with dance and pop tunes that are very well done, and if that's your kind of music, this CD is highly recommended. You should consider the deluxe edition which comes with a bonus DVD featuring a video for the lead track, concert footage and interviews. Well worth the price.

Awesome!

I hate to admit it, but this album is excellent. I am not a fan of this artist, but I heard the album because my niece has it. I was shocked at the vocal talent and quality of the songs used. I can't believe this is the Genie in A Bottle Girl! In comparison, the last Britney Spears album isn't half as good as this one. There are several beautiful ballads that I dare anyone with an open mind to listen to...Beautiful is just that Beautiful. Soar is also an excellent song. Give this one a listen and you will not be disappointed.
