Making of a True Artist

This collection is a good reminder of what kind of artist Madonna is. Look at the song selection. Erotica, Bedtime Story, Human Nature, songs like these would be considered risks, and Madonna does take risks which is why she released them. Sure they didn't chart but it shows the makings of a true artist. She doesn't care what goes to #1, she just releases quality songs. GHV2 is a collection of some of her best songs from the 90s, ranging from all her albums from Erotica to Music, and everything in between. Not many artists could do the things Madonna does, and if they could they probably wouldn't, she's in a class of her own. Songs like Rain, This Used To Be My Playground, You'll See, were probably not included because they ended up on her 1995 ballad compilation SOMETHING TO REMEMBER. Yes there are songs missing, but lets celebrate the great songs that are on this cd, this is just another reminder of what a true gifted artist Madonna is, and I predict it wont be long until we see the next chapter of her hits, in another cd.

One of the best---get it now!

Titanic.. a musical? Come on!! That is exactly what I said when I heard about it.. everyone seemed to like it though, so I gave it a try.. and OH MY GOSH!!!! This musical is simply excellent! The orchestrations are wonderful, and the actors are excellent the "Prologue/In Every Age" and How did thet build Titanic?" is the best opener I've ever heard.. It takes a couple of listens to adjust to the concept of the "Titanic" story being a musical.. "To be a Captain" is still pretty annoying.. but once you adjust, its like mana sent from heaven. The story is depthful (although not as much as "Ragtime") and entertaining, dealing a lot with the people behind the ship.. David Garrison, who played Thomas Andrews, is simply delightful, and his performance, although quite annoyingly operatic in scale, is nonetheless enjoyable. I can't recommend this CD enough! I can't wait for the musical to come to my town!

The best of Early John Hartford

I've loved and listened to John for years but never heard his early stuff which was recorded on vinyl and long out of print. If that's you, then this is the album you should buy. If you have never heard John singing such numbers as'Corn Cob Blues" or 'Shiny Rails of Steel' or the version of 'Gentle on my Mind' which are on this disc, then here's a treat in store for you. Highly recommended.
