Evokes the tranquility of a midwinter's night

Serene, fluid solo piano. Imagine walking beneath a clear, cold winter sky, starlight glittering on new-fallen snow around you, every breath fresh and pure, and all the world is still and tranquil. That is but a pale shadow of the mood this music evokes. Perfect for listening by candlelight on a deep midwinter's night, whatever your spiritual affiliation.

New Order (circa 2005)

After 2001's breath of fresh air "Get Ready", New Order appears in 2005 to prove that wasn't a one up come back. "Get Ready" actually set the bar high for this follow-up because surprisingly it was one of their most muscular albums that captured some of their best moments (like "Crystal", and "Vicious Streak"). "Waiting For The Sirens Call" doesn't disappoint and it distinguishes itself from it's predecessor in many ways. First of all, it's a much warmer record than "Get Ready" (or any of their other work) with bluer, whiter melodies that even spilled over into their lyrics. The songs here seem to be the best team players (giving more distinction to the album as a whole, more so than themselves) New Order has recorded since "Brotherhood." The distinctive songs like "Jetstream", and "Working Overtime" don't distract from the feel of the album, but it does bring the fact that the rest of the songs are similar to attention. It's not something that plays as a weakness on "Waiting For The Sirens Call", it makes this a unique New Order album with textured, sophisticated sensibilities that makes the ride a remarkably smooth one. This is a mature sounding record, which is usually a death blow to bands that have been making music as long as New Order, but everything here feels so fresh and the album is never boring. The fact that they pulled this off so well is one of the main reasons why New Order has the notability they so richly deserve.

"Waiting For The Sirens Call" is a dense, satisfying listen, and a worthy return.

Very nice and rhythmic

as with most "audiophile" discs i didn't like this one for first one or two times i listened to it.But after that.....Well, it didn't come out of my CD player for 2 weeks :-)Each song has a different character which makes this disk not boriing at all.
