At first, when I listened to this CD, I did not like it at all. But I gave it another chance because the media had claimed that this was her best work since Like a Prayer. And the more and more that I listened to it, I liked it. It has grown to be one of my favorite CDs. I love her choice of words and there is so much advice and wisdom in many of her songs. There are several songs on here that are my favorite. If you didn't like it at first, give it another chance.

Great Way to End Your Day

Had a rough day? Pop in this CD, and you'll soon forget your troubles. "Bridge Over Troubled Water" will soothe and comfort you. This song has been recorded before, of course, but young Clay Aiken makes it seem like it's the first time you've ever heard it. A sincerity that is both gentle and firm comes through his voice, breathing life into the lyrics, and hope into your spirit."This Is The Night" will either make you remember your first love, or leave you yearning for one. Clay's crystalline voice, asking his lover to "lift me up,in your eyes", and saying "I've been waiting forever for this...this is the night", paints a post-wedding, virginal honeymoon suite in your mind's eye. Turn off the light, close your eyes, and let his voice cradle you through a romantic dream.

Outstanding Solo Project

It was with great trepidation that I approached this cd in the store, after reading lots of scathing reviews.
Surprise surprise, it is great. Actually, it shouldn't be a surprise, Beyonc? has always been super talented.
For her debut solo cd, she chose to go a different route from Destiny's child. The deliriously happy and Catchy 'Crazy in love' opens the cd. Fantastic. Next follows 'Naughty girl' with it's sample of Donna Summer's 'Love to love you baby'. 'Baby boy' with Sean Paul and 'Hip hop star' with Big boi of Outkast follow, the latter being rock tinged.
Next come quite a number of ballads which is where most people have a problem. I don't. 'Be with you' is fantastic, sampling 'Strawberry letter 23' to good effect. 'Yes' and Speechless' are superior and classy ballads which belie her youth. Not the bubble-gum stuff other girls her age are singing. hello Britney!!
The title track is superb, originally featured on the 'Survivor' cd by her group.
The only slight let down to me is the duet with Luther Vandross. I feel it would have been better if performed with, and produced by someone else. She sounded too restrained, as if in awe of Luther's vocals which are not much to write home about.
My copy of the cd is the UK one which has 2 bonus tracks, 'Work it out' from her Austin Powers movie, produced by the Neptunes, and 'Bonnie and Clyde 03' with Jay Z. A great way to close the cd.

Title: J to tha L-O! The Remixes

Awesome Remix CD - J.LO's Best

If you've heard the mixes of 'I'm real' and 'Ain't it funny', you'll realise they are the selling point of this compliation. And, unsuprisingly they are the best tracks. However, the inclusion of "Let's get loud" completely ruins any chance J.Lo may have had at credibility. Why spend the best part of the disc flirting (well) with hip-hop only to destroy it with this inane Estefan penned/produced cod-latino tripe? Even a remix can't save it. The turgid 'Alive' is bearable in comparison, itself showing the limited range of J.Lo's voice (and song writing ability). A real shame 'cos when it try's it's superb (and features guest rappers), when it's straight forward it's good (most of the single remixes) but when it's bad it's the pits (see above). Still, her best effort to date....
