Elton John is the greatest!

I have been a big Elton fan my entire life (I'm 22). I think the best song he ever did was Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word. I love everything he's ever done. My big dream is to sing a duet with him someday. Who knows, maybe it'll happen. Only if I believe in myself and my dreams.

One step up, two steps back

I keep believing that Bruce has a great record left in him, but this is definitely not it. My first Bruce record was Darkness. As a 17 year old I was blown away by the passion and the songwriting. I then went out and purchased all of his earlier work and was again thrilled. I followed him through all of his subsequemt recordings, and travelled long distances just to see him in concert. Bruce songs consisted of compelling stories wrapped in good and often great music. The passion of the lyrics always matched the passion of the music. With each listen, the stories could be retold and retold with fervor because each note of each song carried meaning. With records like Tom Joad and this one, Bruce favors the story-telling, but he has neglected the music. In turn, the stories lose their impact with each listen because the music does nothing to further the stories. With this record, Bruce is not a musician. He is a performance artist, and a mediocre one at that. And so we wait a little longer for the next great Bruce record.

Taking time

John's playing is patient and melancholic, honest and severe. He dives into the pieces head first and bears his soul on the keys. You have to pause to allow the music to breath and everytime I play the CD I find something new, something hidden, something to make my own. This CD is a must for any serious classical music lover.
