excellent album

I'm not a huge 'trip-hop' fan, but i've heard some of the standard artists who epitomize the genre, such as portishead or massive attack. I can say that I like this album much more than anything i've ever heard by any other artist in the genre, or anything else from Hooverphonic's other albums, which, don't get me wrong, are also excellent works as well.

Try The Ultimate Blue Train

If you are a John Coltrane or jazz fan, and if you enjoy "Blue Train", I highly recommend getting "The Ultimate Blue Train"... available from Amazon. It has the same 5 original songs, plus 2 alternate takes of Blue Train and Lazy Bird, plus it is newly remastered and is enhanced with many interviews with the other players and Rudy Van Gelder, plus a video of Miles Davis and John Coltrane performing "So What" and tons of photos. This version is great, but the "Ultimate" is so much better and worth the few extra dollars.

"I Stand Corrected"

Up until recently I was one of the many 'I hate Britney Spears' lemmings but then I heard 'Overprotected' at the mall and was hooked! I was stuck singing "I tell 'em what like, what I want and what I don't and everytime I do I stand corrected" and as far as being a Spears hater I stood corrected as well. Spears is not an incredible singer..far from it in fact but she does sound like she had a lot of fun recording the album. Her lyrics have come a long way since she was prancing around singing about being 'Lucky' and has progressed even further from insipid songs like 'Soda Pop'. With this album you will find yourself identifying with lyrics like 'think that I might backdown but I won't /think that you know me now but you don't/ no insecurities won't you just let me ,let me be.' and 'I'm not a girl don't tell me what to believe/I'm just trying to find the woman in me/all I need is time a moment that is mine' and other such lyrics along the lines of growing up and learning about oneself. Other songs include the sexy flirtatious 'Boys' and the hit 'Slave 4 U.' The inclusion of 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll' is fun to listen to but could've been left alone (however parents will enjoy the nostalgia, mine do). One of the albums gems is 'What It's Like To Be Me' a rhythmic rocking tune featuring the writting, vocal and producing talents of Spears' boyfriend Justin Timberlake. The songs that stand out most are 'Overprotected', 'Let Me Be','Boys','I'm Not a Girl,Not Yet a Woman' and 'What It's Like To Be Me.' Overall the album was much better than what I expected from Spears and is a worthy addition to any pop fans cd collection.

Anyone reading this is most likely familiar with "The Master".Perhaps your collection is incomplete.Well, without this masterpiece of listening heaven it is just that. Patrick Leonard deserves much credit here as co-writer/producer of this gorgeous work, as does Yanick Etienne,David Gilmore and an All-Star group of magnificent players. My congratulations to all the virtuoso members of this ultra-fine creation.
