WHAT A CD!!!!

IM A HARDCORE MADONNA FAN, HAVE BEEN FROM THE START. THIS DISC IS A WORK OF ART. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST MUSIC SHE HAS PUT OUT IN YEARS. NOT SINCE HER EROTICA CD HAVE I BEEN SO CAPIVATED BY HER. DONT GET ME WRONG RAY OF LIGHT AND MUSIC WERE GOOD BUT THEY DONT COMPARE IN MY OPINION. THIS STORY OF AMERICAN LIFE IS HER LOOKING IN TH MIRROR AND SAYING "WHAT HAVE I DONE WITH MY LIFE AND DO I REALLY HAVE ANYTHING TO SHOW FOR IT". STAND OUT TRACKS ARE HOLLYWOOD, IM SO STUPID, NOTHING FAILS, INTERVENTION AND MY FAVORITE MOTHER AND FATHER...THAT JOINT TAKES ME WAY BACK IN THE EIGHTIES. MUSICALLY I THINK THE CD IS MUCH MORE INVOLVED AND MUSICAL THAN "MUSIC" THERE IS MORE OF A STRUCTURE TO THE WRITING. I LUV IT..LUV IT LUV IT.

Pretty good (ok)

OK I received this album as a "gift". The person who bought it for me didnt know whaqt to buy so they just picked up the latest NOw cd. I have to admit that it was kind of weird opening the gift and receiving a "NOw 17" cd. I was worried. As for me I listen to punk/emo/screamo/hardcore/metal/jam bands/alternative IN "general" I like ROCK!!! And I was like WHAT when I saw a whole load of RAP songs on the album and pop!!!!! BUt we recently bought this cd for my cousin for her bithday(she asked for it). And I liked some of the songs on it. BUt the rap stuff, IT just doesnt do anything for me. But I do listen to "lean back"(i just like to laugh at the song and the beat is "kind of" catchy) And I listn to "lets get it started" And how can i not bob my head up and down to that song.(it kind of makes me want to dance) And I do listen to the Jadakiss song on their.(I like the lyrics just not the whole rap part, it would be cool if the kept the lyrics, replaced the lead singer with the lead singer of hatebreed and had him Scream every part of it) Ok I'll stop poking fun of the rap songs. BUt I do like the beastie boys song. Its really catchy and hilarious!!! Now to the part I like about the album. The bands that are just AWESOME on it are bowling for soup, crossfade, franz ferdinand, switchfoot, finger eleven, and i even dig "pieces of me" by ashley simpson. "cold" by crossfade is an AMAZING song and i'll probably end up buying their full cd. So anyways ill wrap up my review now. If you love all of the "top-twenty" stuff this and all of the other NOW cds are for you. But if your lokking for straight out rock music your getter of shopping in the rock section!!!!(like i said this album was a gift and its only ok just ok...) SO anyways thats how i feel about the album, a few good rock songs and thats about it.

A great import!

Elton John's "Made in England" was really the first CD of his I ever purchased. I was given some of his greatest hits CDs, and of course I had several vinyl albums of his when I was younger, but this is the first one I deliberately went out to purchase because I loved the songs "Believe," "Belfast," and "Blessed." I love the way some songs sort of blend into others, but not necessarily because they are on the next track. "Believe" and "Belfast" blend in together, and in many ways fit together in sense and feel as well as the message.
Elton John has never been one for the deep, penetrating messages in his songs in such a way that they overpower the music which is toe-tapping fun. But in many ways, this CD seems like a change. The songs all seem to have a deeper meaning, while remaining very much in Elton John's musical style. There seems more care given to what the lyrics say and how they say it, it seems to me.
Highly recommended!

The most outstanding CD remaster

This is the best remastered CD I have yet bought. (And I have bought all the Steely Dan re-masters.) Nothing about this new version disappoints, apart perhaps from the obscure new sleevenotes. The marimba at the fron of 'Rikki' is there, and Michael Omartian's piano is crisply wonderful. The guitars shine through -- 'Night by Night' is now an utter gem. 'Royal Scam' is still the definitive Steely guitar album in my opinion, but for all-round appeal, this is the one to have.
It's very short -- the Steely re-masters include no out-takes or bonus tracks. So you simply get Steely perfection, and they are now, at last, better than the original LPs.
