I WANT A SAMPLE OF OXFORD TOWN!!!

The first time I heard it, except for the title tract, I promptly put the thing away and didn't give it a full and complete fair hearing. (I think the computer generated voice interludes--let's call them "interludes"--were an immediate turn-off and incited in me this reaction) Afterwards, I put it on from time-to-time, skipping the interludes, and found I really liked some of the songs. Upon repeated listenings, I've decided that most of the songs are really quite exceptional. It took a while, but now I really like this album. At the risk of sounding repetitive, the interludes--harsh and discordant--prevent the listener from getting to know sooner Bowie's refreshing, innovative and wonderfully different songs; otherwise, I would have given Outside five stars.

Strange feelings

On reality Bowie is writing a record much like Earthling, that smacks withlive band feel, however, unlike Earthling, or most of his 90's music since Outside, this record has been produced to an almost 80's extent, little synth noises pop out at the listener along with annoying riffs which eventually bubble into the background, thankfully. However the record has very strong songs, my favorites being Looking For Water and Fall Dog Bombs the moon, allthough most fo the rest of the sogns re very good as well. the worst songs to my ears are Never Get Old, the title track and the final track, Bring me the Disco King, which I think really isn't the best track he's recorded in a long time, it really isn't.Now a few gripes about fans reactions to this and Heathen. Most fans don't seem to be able to understand that these aren't his comeback records, Outside was his comeback album, and his best record in the past 10 years to boot. heathen and Reality are almost throwbacks, records which sound like they were made to appeal to his fans, to get them to realise that he was makign good music again. But really their not as good as Outside, they retreat from the edge, where Bowie truely is best, and go back to an almost 80sish comfort level, nothing is shocking or really difficult, it all seems very contrived and controled. But at times greatness really shines through, on Slip Away and the title track of the last record, and on the ebst tracks on here, Bowie shows that he isn't getting old, he is most definatly making good music, but what he really needs is another young collabator like Trent Renzor or Suede or Placebo, and someone to say, let's not layer 10 synths at once and etc. But this is all hearsay, I believe Bowie understands what he is doing, the final thing he played at Live by Request was I'm afraid of americans, and unlikely choice in a show dominated by the hits, but his choice, and reflective of his stance that his fans have to adapt with him. Now one final note, listen to the maligned Tongith and Never Let me Down records, and listen to the the guitar sounds and Bowie's vocals, and then listen to Reality, and you'll be amazed, Bowie seems to have adapted the sound from Tonight, to try to make what are very good sounds and songs and idea, killed by production and boredom, and on this record make them new, and it works, the vocals and soudns and songs on this record are for the most part amazingly done, and to tell teh truth, I like the record alot, more than Heathen in many ways, the songs are stronger. Anyways, this is a good record, no matter what weaknessess there may be.

A Disapointment for an Incrediable Song

The song Resuce me, is by far, one of Madonna's Best Songs EVER.
But this single could have been better, Much better! The song is so powerful and full of energy, but these remixes are weak and and degrading to orginal, not to mention they all sound simmilar, except for the S.O.S. Remix (The only remix, I really like). I only recomend this song to the Die-Hard Madonna fan. Go for the Immaculate Collection, it has the longer Studio Version of Resuce me.

the real thing

If you like blues, real heart-rending blues, you will like this album. It's just musical enough, just sad enough, just funny enough, always poignant and terribly sincere.
