John Williams Does it Again!

In my opinion John Williams has never composed a score that remains unheared in a Big Budget film, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is no exception. In this Cd, the second of the series, John Williams composes yet another wonderful score. Matching the movie perfectly, just like the first. I think everyone who is a Harry Potter or a classical music fan should pick this one up. WAY TO GO JOHN!!!(..)

An Indispensable Addition to Any Collection

On this album, Trane is his usual brilliant self, in a more subdued, ballad role than many will be used to. His utter genius is clear through his understated phrases, flitting through the soundscape of the album.
What really makes the album, however, is Hartman's impeccable singing. This is not to say, of course, that Trane is not an indispensable part of the album (nor are the rest of the personell), but that Hartman really carries this record.
You honestly cannot go wrong with any track on this album. Each and every one is a gem, creating an otherwordly sense of serenity and beauty throughout all six tracks. "My One and Only Love" shines brightly as a definitive recording, with Hartman's lush baritone lazily soaring through the one-and-a-half octive range of the song.
This record is especially significant when compared with other offerings from Trane's quartet--"A Love Supreme", "My Favorite Things", etc. Here the quartet (+ Hartman) manage to display not only their versatility, but their impeccable musicianship and legendary talent.
I truly wish I could give this historic album more than 5 stars. In my entire collection, there is not a more poignant, beautiful, and tender disc to be found.

Swingin'

The tracks on this album come from Andrew Van Slee's "Totally Blonde" starring Michael and Krista Allen (see the DVD page for info on the film). Definite hits that stand out most are "Me and Mrs You" and "That's How It Goes." The movie is a great throwback to the jazz and swing times. Michael's voice is smooth and sophisticated and works perfectly for these songs. The title track from the film "Blonde Thing" is not on his album, though, as it was made for a woman to sing.

This soundtrack was pretty good but could have been better.

The reason I give LIS only 2 stars is because of tracks 2-7. I really enjoyed tracks 1,8 and 9-19, but I was disappointed that so much instumental music from the movie was left out. I thought that the techno tracks were too long, repetitive, and frankly irritating. I do like some techno, but this was bad techno. I think that this soundtrack should have been released as two separate CDs. One with the techno, and one with the instrumental music, like the Batman releases.
