great music! not so great sound variations!

The selections and the arrangements are truly excellent. There are some hard to find (on the same CD) pieces and adagios--Spartacus ; Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez; Mascagni's Intermezzo from Cavelleria...But, better turn up the sound and then get away from the speakers. Parts of the selections are played so very softly that, when you turn up the volume to hear them, you will get blasted by those sections that have cresendos, or just plain louder sections. Too bad!Very hard to enjoy in a car--or, even at home. if this problem did not exist, this is a 5 star plus!

Joy Music

I've only had the opportunity to listen to this album once, but I have had experience with Brian Anderson's music in the past. I love this album, and Brian's live performances, because it makes me feel happy inside. The closest comparison I can make to any popular band is Counting Crows, only much less gloomy. I recommend this album to folk fans, accoustic fans, people in search of music that makes them feel glad inside.

"Stunned"

I was simply stunned by Russell Watson's performance on Good Morning America! This young and handsome man and his incredible voice gave me chills and tears at the same time! I immediately purchased the CD. I am a contemporary music lover that has really never given classical/opera a good listen. Russell Watson's talent has impressed me. I now have a great appreciation of his rendition of classical/opera. I hope he will create more of a mix of contemporary/classical music. I also hope he will continue exposing younger audiences to this great kind of music!(....better pictures please.)

Some masterpieces

If the music industry, like evolution, is about survival of the fittest, natural selection, and adaption to one's environment: then Bowie surely is the Master of Metamorphosis. However, many agree that he was at his best in the beginning, and here is great compilation of Bowie's work from the early years.
Bowie is not an artist who one would immediately fall in love with - however after a bit of listening his songs become more likeable. This album is a great introduction to the Ziggy Stardust years right until he turns into the Glam Rock era in the mid 70's.
Some noteworthy tracks on this album include: Space Oddity, Starman, Ziggy Stardust, Changes (the track that defines the artist himself) and The Man who Sold the World (later covered by Nirvana) to mention a few. However there is a feeling that not all of his BEST tracks of the period were included. However even if some of these tracks are not his "best", this is still a brilliant album.
This is a good introduction to his early years, unfortunately as Bowie has changed so much over the years, a complete compilation of 30+ years of work would perhaps lack continuity.
This is a timeless collection. A must for people interested/fascinated by Bowie or the music of this period.
