A Must-Have For Brass Fans

I admit, at the outset, that I am a sucker for this kind of stuff. I also admit that I am not generally fond of the edgy, brash sound of the trumpet (as least, the way it is most often played.)But this is something else again. The real heroes of this recording are the brass players of the Boston Symphony. This is, without doubt, the finest brass playing I have ever heard. The section work is amazing. The massed triple-tongueing is awesome. And their first chair trumpet, Tim Morrison, is without peer: in execution, intonation and heart...this guy is a monster. The program is also varied and interesting. Seldom-heard pieces by Shostakovich and Leonard Bernstein and Theodorakis combine with terrific, "pure hollywood" stuff by Williams that defines what heroic music ought to sound like. This is simply dazzling. Get it. Enjoy. And TURN IT UP .... LOUD! One caveat : it sure would have been nice to have printed librettos, as well as the puffery, to accompany the vocal pieces (being a chorister, I am unusually interested in that).

Super Dance tracks n eerie cool Ricky

I ever been a gr8 fan of Ricky martin the day I heard the smashing hits 'Livin la vida loca' and 'Cup of Life' Ricky's got an eerie cool voice n so natural, rich vocals. A great Latino singer with the incredible numbers. Shake your Bon Bon is so different from the World cup theme Cup of Life and Spanish Eyes has the cool music back scores that mix with Rick's voice. Maria is one number fav of mine and She's all I have is a soft lyrical song which ever makes me feel real good to hear Ricky! Vuelve had good numbers too but Ricky has yet another cool number in his 'Sound Loaded' Nobody wants to be Lonely which I luv more. Back to this pick, its one of the Best of Ricky Martin if you gotta make a choice with Vuelve & Sound Loaded. I count the Minutes, I count the seconds is a great number and most of the numbers here with the eerie voice of Ricky, make you swing on the floor to dance or just click to watch the videos..Hey! Believe me, Enrique is best but Ricky isn't gonna fade, He is cool too! Listen n Enjoy!

Beautiful.

Emipre of the Sun is certainly one of the lesser known scores by John Williams, but don't let that fool you -- it very much has the high quality his music is known for. The score starts off with a wonderful choral arrangement of the Welsh folk tune, 'Suo Gan'. This melody is a favortie of mine, this this is probably my favortie version. The other non-Williams music, the patriotic British march 'The British Grenadiers', is another favortie in yet another wonderful arrangement.Williams's own music is quite a mixed grabbag. 'Jim's New Life' is a happy "bustling town" town type piece, while 'The Streets of Shanghai' is a rousing action piece. There are two more choral tracks as well, 'Liberation: Exsultate Justi', and 'Exsultate Justi'. Both are basically the same, but are extrememly wonderful, and prove that Williams is as much a master of choral writing as he is of fanfares and sweet themes. This theme is easily one of the great ones. !But no review of this soundtrack could exist without mention of 'Toy Planes, Home And Hearth'. This piece is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. It's simple and elegent, yet masterful, and worth the price of the album alone. Overall, I feel this is a must have for all score fans. It's easily on the same level as Williams's other masterworks. Just get it.

A Truly Remarkable Comeback

There are no other words to describe Mariah's comeback other than...WOW!!! She sounds fantastic. This is definitely the best album released in 2005 thus far. Miss Carey deserves several Grammy noms for this. It's her best album yet. Highlights include: We Belong Together, Mine Again, Stay the Night, I wish You Knew, One and Only, Joy Ride, and Fly Like a Bird. I wouldn't hesitate to get this album.
