Title: Room for Squares
Label: Sony
Artist: John Mayer
Rating: 5/5

John is "everyman"

Atlanta native John Mayer could be from anywhere and look like anybody. He voices many of the feelings and insecurities that many of us feel. In his album "Room for Squares" he gives you an impulse to dance, cry, or smile. It is such a rare quality for an aritst to write with such honesty and candesness about life. Sometimes it's down right humorous. In the song 83 he sings about the inosence of childhood and how he wishes he had it again. Then he laments about his lost lunch box. In "My Stupid Mouth" he sings about saying something completely stupid to a girl. I mean c'mon who hasn't that happened too? The first track to the album, "No Such thing" is about takeing life and running with it. Follow your dreams and everything will work out. If you ask me (and who wouldn't want to ask a first time reviewer about music) the theme of the album is simply Life...take what ya got and make it yours.

Title: Secret//Let Down Your
Label: Wea/Warner
Artist: Madonna

NOT THE BEST MADONNA MAXI

This maxi single contains a 4:30 edit of "Secret," as well as the lp version(5:03) and an instrumental(no vocals)version(5:04). There is of course the nonlp track, "Let Down Your Guard"(4:33), which is a unique R&B influenced track(though not much of a song), but if you are a huge Madonna fan, you might want it.

Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best Of George Michael (1998)

1998 brought George's first greatest hits album entitled, "Ladies & Gentlemen: The Best Of George Michael". Let me just say that this album certainly is the best of George Michael.

Disc 1: For The Heart
JESUS TO A CHILD
From the album Older (1996). George is always known for recording beautiful ballads, but we had no idea. This song is among the many beautiful ballads recorded by George and it is one of my favorites.

FATHER FIGURE
From the album Faith (1987). Another heartfelt ballad that only George could have come up with and recorded. This song still remains as one of George's best.

CARELESS WHISPER (Album & Single Version)
Performed by WHAM! Extended version from WHAM!'s album Make It Big (1984). Beautiful song. A classic.

DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME (Live)
performed by George Michael & Elton John. This song was originally recorded by just Elton John. Now, I hate Elton John with a passion. When first heard George's live version, I began to warm up to the song, but until I heard Elton John come out and turn the live performance into a duet, I was disappointed.

YOU HAVE BEEN LOVED
From the album Older (1996). Not a bad song.

KISSING A FOOL
From the album Faith (1987). This song most definitely deserves this spot on this album. It is definitely a greatest hit and is one of my favorite songs from George.

I CAN'T MAKE YOU LOVE ME
Previously unreleased. Not all that bad.

HEAL THE PAIN
From the album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). Another favorite song of mine. I could listen to this one for an entire day if I had to.

A MOMENT WITH YOU
Previously released on an AIDS Tribute Album. Not bad.

DESAFINADO
Performed by George Michael & Astrud Gilberto. This one could have been a lot better if it was sung in English.

COWBOYS AND ANGELS
From the album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). This is one hell of a song. Definitely one of the most heartfelt ballads George has recorded.

PRAYING FOR TIME
From the album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). I bought this album a year ago when I was in Florida for two weeks. That was the first time I heard this song and all I remember doing was starting this song over to hear it again.

ONE MORE TRY
From the album Faith (1987). I will always favor this song because it was the song that made me the loyal fan that I am. I still remember my reaction to when I first heard it, only a year ago.

A DIFFERENT CORNER
Performed by WHAM! From WHAM!'s album Music From The Edge Of Heaven (1986). This was the only single that was recorded by WHAM!, but released as a single by only George. I absolutely love the high note he belts out in this one.

Disc 2: For The Feet
OUTSIDE
New song. The first & only single from the album. This song is one of the best songs to dance to. The music video actually pokes fun at George's bathroom escapade.

FASTLOVE
From the album Older (1996). Definitely the perfect song to dance to.

TOO FUNKY
Released as a single back in 1992. I do not know what album this single came from, but I do know that this album is the first George Michael album for this song to appear on. I now understand why he titled this song, "Too Funky". The song is too funky, which is why I always make sure to listen to it.

FREEDOM 90
From the album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). This is another one of my all-time favorite songs from George Michael.

STAR PEOPLE 97
Original version from the album Older (1996). No different from the original version, but still not bad.

(Medley) KILLER/PAPA WAS A ROLLIN' STONE (Live)
Performed by George Michael & Queen. From George Michael & Queen's album Five Live (1993). Not bad.

I WANT YOUR SEX (Part 2)
From the album Faith (1987). I do not know why this version was included here because it was "I Want Your Sex (Part 1)" that was released as a single. All in all, this is an okay version.

MONKEY (Video & Single Version)
Original version from the album Faith (1987). Whether it is the album version or this version, I still cannot get enough of this song. This is an incredible song.

SPINNING THE WHEEL
From the album Older (1996). You gotta love this one. The sound is absolutely incredible.

(Medley) WAITING FOR THAT DAY/YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT
From the album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 (1990). Another one of the greatest songs from George Michael.

I KNEW YOU WERE WAITING (FOR ME)
Performed by George Michael & Aretha Franklin. From Aretha Franklin's album Aretha (1986). First off, this album is the first George Michael album for this song to appear. This duet was released as a single in 1987 and marks the first start of George's solo career.

HARD DAY
From the album Faith (1987). This song was never released as a single, despite the fact that it makes an appearance on this album. I am still puzzling over why this was included on this album when it was never released as a single.

FAITH
From the album Faith (1987). We all know how much of a classic this song is. No matter how old you are, no matter if you are a fan or not, you will find yourself singing along with this song.

SOMEBODY TO LOVE (Live)
Performed by George Michael & Queen. From George Michael & Queen's album Five Live (1993). George Michael and Queen did record an album together, but it is actually an album that was recorded live from their 1992 AIDS Benefit concert. This version blows Queen's original out of the water.

Ladies & Gentlemen, this is the best of George Michael. So buy a copy for yourselves now.
