Worthy, But Not Quite Solid "Gold"

Sadly, of all the "Remastered" and extended James Bond soundtracks produced by Capital/EMI/MGM to celebrate 007's 40th Anniversary, "Goldfinger" is the biggest disappointment. This is not a bad recording, far from it, but one hoped for a bit more. John Barry's score for "Goldfinger" is clearly one of the two best of the entire series and it has what is easily the best vocal title. The problem here is that even with an additional four "bonus" tracks, music that has been available for quite a while on LP and CD, this recording represents only part of the full score. In comparison with the "Remastered" version of Barry's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which was wonderful, "Goldfinger" comes up a bit short. No one is at fault really. The fact is that the rest of the score was not saved. That is the bad news. The good news is that the recording is excellent, the packaging is first rate, and again the price deserves a big hand. "Goldfinger" was the first Bond project that Barry had all to himself (with the exception of the lyrics)and it remains the standard by which all other Bond scores have been measured, and only "OHMSS" is actually in the same class. A full score would have been solid gold. This version does come very close, however, and is a must.

Title: Live the Life
Label: Reunion
Artist: Michael W. Smith
Rating: 5/5
Customer rating - 5 out of 5

This was some of MWS best work ever. I never really liked alot of his older stuff, but this is great!!!! I love all of the songs on this album. Missing Person is great (we all need to have that child-like faith). Live the Life is also another of my favs (we definitely need to live the life so that others will see Christ in us). I also like "In My Arms Again" because I lost someone that I loved very much a few years ago and it really reflected my thoughts exactly that I would love to just see him and hold him in my arms again, but I will when I get to heaven. AWESOME CD!!!! I would really recommend this one!!!!

How bad can swing music sound???

This bad, for an example of what swing shouldn't sound like(or how not to lead a swing orchestra) try this. If you want to hear Rock-a-billy, Elvis Presley, Mitch Miller, influenced swing try this. If you have no class and no musical integrity and have no resopect for classic jazzmen like Red Norvo, Joe Venuti, and Teddy Wilson, you'll probobly love this. If you're idea of a good jazz sax player is Kenny G, you're going to think this Brian Setzer CD is swing. This is NOT swing music, it's insulting to anyone who ever liked jazz, dixieland or swing. Don't buy it unless you know what it is you're buying. Now you've been warned.
