What A Crossover Should Be

No Latin artist has crossed over to a full English disc to make the commotion Shakira has since Enrique Iglesias. Her English debut "Laundry Service" explores new music styles without straying far from her gorgeous and expressive debut. The smash hit single "Whenever, Wherever" (Or "Suerte" to her Spanish-speaking fans), has become one of the most beloved tracks this year. Don't think Shakira is merely a one-hit English wonder. No, no. With tracks like "Rules," "Objection" (Tango) and "Underneath Your Clothes," this lady wows us with her impressive vocabulary and unique voice. Though she may seem more appropriate singing in Spanish, after a few listens, it's very easy to realize you've gotten some great laudry service!

can you really trust a girl that gives Pink Floyd five stars

Duran Duran is the epitome of synthpop/new wave 80's. One of the most influential bands of the that decade. This is 1 of their best albums by far. We all know they have had numerous hit songs "Planet Earth" being 1 of my faves too many to mention but this CD you will not skip a track. The production is amazing it was ahead of it's time with synths and drumbeats. Every song is catchy and you can sing every track on this album. The breakout dance singles "Hungry like the wolf" & "Rio" are incredibly catchy but "Save a prayer" is my favorite on cd the lyrics bring you right there as if your going through the same thing he is. Simon Lebon has a good voice the soft ballad "Lonely in my nightmare" The album incorporates it all dance, ballads, & synthpop/punk. Essential cd to collection for any one who grew up in the new wave 80's decade.

What's wrong with John Denver

I could never understand why country music was so against John Denver. In the 70's when Denver was big, he sounded more country than most of the music at the time coming out of Nashville. Charlie Rich threw a fit at the CMAs, but wasn't ole Charlie just as non country as Dever was. "Back Home Again, Some Days are Diamonds, I'm Sorry, Thank God I'm A Country Boy" are all stone country songs that still to this day are looked down on.
This collection is pretty good. As far as I am concerened, you could take any recording John Denver ever made and call it country. And also, any greatest hits or best of collection of John Denver is never complete. This is at least better than those cheesy packaged greatest hits cd's from the 70's and early 80's.
This makes a great cd for your car, now collection wise, it is for novice's. Go out and get one of those boxed sets if you are serious about music.

John Mayer = Bland Pop

Last year, seemingly every college student was raving about this new musician named John Mayer. A big fan of music myself, I decided to check out his album and see what all the talk was about.
I found myself disappointed. At first, John Mayer came across to me as a carbon copy of Dave Matthews, at least vocally. While some could argue that's not exactly a bad thing, to me it says that John Mayer isn't exactly original.
To me, John Mayer comes across as bland pop/rock. His lyrics sound like they were written by a high schooler struggling with girls and trying to figure out what they want in life. Wow, I haven't seen that tried before! John Mayer hasn't done anything to seperate himself from any other popular music act today and, in my opinion, he will be forgotten in a matter of time in favor of the new "flavor of the month".
If you like artists that sound like Dave Matthews whose songs are easy to sing along with after one listen, check out John Mayer. If you like artists with a little more substance and originality, look elsewhere.
