Wicked!!

Moonlighting as a DJ now and then, this CD is always in my bag. It is probably Artful Dodgers best thing to date. This is also what remixing was meant to be. Each track is a gem of its own. Don't get fooled by Craig Davids name on the cover. Although he did co-write the song, his vocal appearance is very limited. The vocals by Robbie Craig however are the perfect match with the floor filler music. Why don't we hear more of this man? Also look for Woman Trouble CD Nr. 2, (available through Amazon.co.uk) featuring the video and the mother of all remixes: 'Sunkids future discotech edit'.

Not historically informed, but very pleasant, adds BWV 1070

The number of recordings of Bach’s Orchestral Suites is legion indeed, and of those that I have heard, these unspectacular but proficient offerings from Slovakia are probably the least historically informed, not really bearing comparison with the “experts” of the early music/period instrument movement (with the English Concert directed by Trevor Pinnock on Deutsche Grammophon Archiv leading the pack as far as I am concerned). However, if it is not historicity but general “pleasantness” which is your objective, and if you are not a Bach connoisseur but just someone who wants to get acquainted with this music, the two Capella Istropolitana CDs should do quite nicely, their bargain price being one attraction, the other being the inclusion of BWV 1070, which, although it is obviously not by Bach (that is admitted by the liner notes but can also be clearly heard), is well worth listening to as a sample of the kind of music that Bach would have performed with his Leipzig Collegium Musicum at Zimmermann’s coffee-house. If you prefer a historically informed performance on modern instruments, Naxos have re-recorded Suites 1 through 4 with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra directed by Helmut M?ller-Br?hl, and I suspect that most listeners who have a more than superficial acquaintance with Bach will find that award-winning CD more satisfying. It contains all four original suites on one CD, but you don’t get the additional material that the Capella Istropolitana added on its 2 CD series.

Dangerously in Love with this album

Beyonce' Knowles delivers another platinum piece of work with her solo debut, "Dangerously in Love". The Destiny's Child frontwoman wrote and produced most of the 16 tracked album. Songs like the bootyshakin' "Crazy in Love" and reggae fueled "Baby Boy" featuring rapper, Sean Paul, will have you pressing the repeat button on your stereo until you blister. The second half of the disc only gets better with songs like "Signs" with Missy Elliot, "Speechless", and the album's title, "Dangerously in Love". Also the hidden track at the end dedicated to her father/manager Matthew Knowles, definitely lets you appreciate and understand what a father and daughter relationship should be. This is by far one of the greatest CD's this year!

Where are the sea shanties?

I ordered this CD primarily for the sea shanties sung by the sailors in the film, which I assumed would be included on the soundtrack. I was very disappointed that they are not on the CD. So if that is your interest skip this item.
