Great Interplay Between These Masters

It is a true joy to listen to Miles Davis and his cohorts blend their instruments in wonderful harmony. The color and tone that Miles, Bill, John, etc. each bring is quite refreshing and relaxing. Flamenco Sketches is especially strong in that respect as Miles emphasizes each note of his passionate solos.
Whereas I do not love this CD to death at this point, I can certainly appreciate the beauty on how these masterful musicians feed off each other. And the calming tones surely do create a mood.

Music to give you a migraine

EARLY YEARS is not a Madonna album. It is an album by Otto von Wernherr. He is someone who hired Madonna to do backup for him, and this was long before Madonna was famous. After she became famous, Wernherr released this album and credits it as a "Madonna" album, when the fact is that she only sings a few words on each song . . . and they are terrible, just dreadful songs. I don't know what era these songs would sound appropriate in, probably no era.
Even if you are a huge Madonna fan, you probably will not want to get EARLY YEARS.

One of my warmest Christmas memories

I remember when I was a little boy and I watched the John Denver and Muppet Christmas special on TV. My mother bought the LP for me, and I listened to it so much that I wore it completely out. I was overjoyed to find it available on CD, and when I listen to it, the memories flood back to me...this is the true joy of a childhood christmas. Not only is the album funny and witty ("Little St. Nick" with Animal flying into a fit over the line "run run reindeer!"; the round-robin on "Christmas is Coming"; the Muppets playing off each other's styles in "The 12 Days of Christmas") but often haunting and beautiful, particularly "Where the River Meets the Sea" and "A Baby Just Like You". Somehow, I find the meaning of the holiday wrapped up completely in these two songs. Everything on this is a treasure, a true tribute to the Jim Henson's gentle genius and whimsy. Even if you don't like John Denver (and I usually don't), even if you don't remember the special, please buy this album for you and the people you love.
