MICHAEL STILL ROCKS MY WORLD

IN 1984 I WAS ELEVEN AND THE ONE THING IN THIS WORLD I WANTED WAS MICHAEL JACKSON'S THILLER ALBUM. I NEVER GOT IT, AND LAST YEAR I JUST CAME ACROSS IT AND BOUGHT IT. OF COURSE I LISTENED TO IT ENDLESSLY AND IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CD'S, WHERE EVER I GO, IT GOES. THE FIRST TIME I HEARD "ROCK MY WORLD" I HAVE TO BE HONEST, IT DIDN'T IMPRESS ME MUCH. A FEW WEEKS WENT BY AND WHILE AT MY SISTER'S HOUSE, MY 3 YEAR OLD NIECE CAME UP TO ME AND SAID "IT'S MICHAEL JACKSON AND THE DANCING AND I LIKE IT." SHE WAS REFERRING TO HIS VIDEO FOR "YOU ROCK MY WORLD." THEN I SAW THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL ON MTV AND THE VIDEO FOR "GHOSTS." I WAS REALLY BLOWN AWAY BY THE VIDEO AND THE SONG. I WENT OUT AND GOT THE DISC THE NEXT NIGHT THINKING "GHOSTS" WAS ONE OF THE NEW TRACKS. I LISTENED TO THE CD ABOUT A BILLION TIMES SINCE THEN AND I REALLY LIKE IT. THERE ARE A FEW TRACKS THAT DON'T SEEM TO FIT, BUT OVERALL IT'S GREAT. OF COURSE I SPENT TWO WEEKS TRYING TO FIGURE WHERE "GHOSTS" WAS FROM AND I FINALLY DID. I WENT OUT LAST WEEK TO GET SHAKIRA'S NEW CD AND ENDED UP BUYING THE REMASTERED CD'S FOR BAD, OFF THE WALL, AND DANGEROUS. AND THE TWO DISC HISTORY SET ( I LOVE THIS CD, IT'S AWESOME!) AS WELL AS THE BLOOD ON THE DANCEFLOOR CD. -WHICH IS THE ONE WITH "GHOSTS" AND "IS IT SCARY" AS WELL AS SOME AWESOME REMIXES FROM THE HISTORY DISC. SO NOW ALL MY OTHER CD'S ARE SITTING COLLECTING DUST, INCLUDING MY NEW SHAKIRA CD BECAUSE I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO MICHAEL. THAT IS WHY HE IS THE KING OF POP. I READ A REVIEW STATING HE'S TRYING TO RECONNECT WITH HIS FANS, AND I'LL SAY HE'S DEFINATELY DONE IT WITH ME. I LOVE YOU MICHEAL!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the Dolby Digital 5.1 MIX ??

I give it four star for the music. these Ballads are not for every fan but i'm a sucker for accoustical music and general like the feel of those songs.
Now to the weak point of the DUAlDISC; Altough the cover promises a 5.1 Mix on the DVD side for all those songs, I could only find 2 that had faint signals in the surround sound channels. Not enough to call this 5.1
The indicator of the receiver clearly showed the presents of an 5.1 Surround sound mix! I thought my equipment was failing and used other peoples surround sound systems. Still the same results.
So for the Dolby digital 5.1 I give this DualDisc a Zero!!!!

Every saga has a beginning

When I was just eighteen years old in 1983, there was this tune that kept on playing in my mind. That song was "Holiday." I never knew the artist then, but when "Borderline" was released in 1984, I became a great fan of Madonna, who was not a superstar yet during that time. Her first album, originally released in analog recording, contained nine tracks which for me are all great. Now, 18 years later and now 36 years old, the original Madonna album had been remastered! I immediately bought the copy and listened to the difference. Much as the bonus tracks really dont mean anyhting to me (since I have all her cd singles!), the remastering brought out the best instruments in "Burning Up" and the bass of "Lucky Star."
All the tracks have been wonderfully remastered. "Holiday" still have the beat and splendor as it did 18 years ago. "Physical Attraction" was simply one of the best, and "Everybody," her first single, featured in all its glorious six minutes, gave not one clue that Madonna would be the icon of pop music! Other tracks were simply great: "I Know It" and "Think of Me" featured the girl in Madonna.
Every saga has a beginning, and despite all the bootleg releases of her supposedly "early tracks" this album from WB/Sire is really one of her greatest albums - no pretentions, no hype, just great music!
No wonder, you can play it side by side with her recent albums, "Ray of Light" and "Music" and notice only one thing: their greatness! Madonna is one of the best artists of all time and these albums are just testaments to her creativity and artistry.
With also "Like A Virgin" and "True Blue" being digitally remastered, i hope "Like A Prayer" "Who's That Girl" "You Can Dance" "I'm Breathless" and even "The Immaculate Collection" will receive the same royal treatment in the future. The albums of the 90's need no remastering - they all sound great already (content and otherwise!)

Unsatisfactory recording

"A music fan" of August 14, 2002 has some valid points regarding the simplification of this music to accomodate Watson's range or the perception of the "average person's" decernment of what constitutes an operatic performance.
I have enjoyed listening to classical music literally all of my life as my father loves classical music and is a pianist. In addition, I discovered opera in my adult life, with a definite preference for the Italian operas.
While it is most likely that Russell Watson did not study opera or Italian for years, his natural talent is remarkable. His music is beautiful, and Watson does a commendable job presenting it to us in his fashion. I thoroughly enjoy his music for what it is, for who he is, and the joy he shares when he shares his God-given gift with us.
Someone may discover the beauty of a song by Verde or Puccini here, where they might not have had exposure to it otherwise.
