But Can He Use Parody to Create Genuinely Affecting Music?

That's the musical question at the heart of this record. For all of you who think this CD's about romance, I've got news for you: it's about as romantic as a cold waterbed.
What's really going on here is deconstructed surf music. Ha ha. Real clever. But as with a lot of postmodernists, if there's no reconstruction, there's not much of anything. And yes, the interior art is gross and offensive.
If you want to hear some brilliant, accessible, postmodern jazz that doesn't suffer from Zorn's pretention, get your hands on The Invisible by Peter Epstein. If you want to hear some great deconstructionist jazz with lots more humor and none of the posing, check out the Clusone 3. Michael Moore--now there's a REAL musical genius.

My favorite Smitty album

This was one of the first cd's my family ever got, so we listened to it quite often. Every song on it is enjoyable, and carries a message with it. Of course, "Place in this world" is my favorite, along with the title track. Get this album if you want a Smitty album.

Well Produced, Well Worth Waiting For!

Kelly Clarkson's power-house voice is put to good use on "Thankful." The wide variety of songs let you hear the versatility in Clarkson's wonderfully rich voice. The first single "Miss Independent" is made for the radio, but not the best track on the album. Try "Low," "Just Missed The Train," and "Beautiful Disaster." The lyrics of "Low" will speak to virtually everybody while Clarkson's lilting voice and the music/arrangement moves "Train" along with sounds reminicent of an engine on the tracks. The best song on the album is "Beautiful Disaster." The lyrics are ironic, humorous and performed exquisitly. Don't miss this amazingly produced vocal experience!

New Fan Thanking Original Fans

I've just finished watching Biker Boyz for the first time, after some encouragement from my brother's fiancee, and she and I couldn't wait to find out the name behind the voice of such a soulful song. We were so delighted when we located his name and songtitle through a search for the Biker Boyz soundtrack. Felt like we'd struck gold. At first listen of an online preview of his songs, I thought he sounded like Seal, but I quickly recognized the difference between the two. He combines crast lyrics with (beau)tiful music. I love his outspoken personality; He says whatever he feels. At any rate, our search continued when we wondered why we hadn't heard of him until now. By the way everything is listed on his official site, we thought he was a newfound artist who amazingly landed a spot on the Biker Boyz SdTrk. Now, we find that he's been out for a long time: as the leader of not one, but two hit groups. Such a huge relief to know better. Thank you fans who posted reviews on him. We've learned more from you all, than we have from our Google Search.
