Title: The Saint: Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack

One of the better soundtracks

I borrowed this from a friend and have been hanging on to it for months. It's an excellent mix of various artists, mostly electronica. My one gripe is why they felt it necessary to stick a Duncan Sheik song on there - it does NOT belong on there and I hate it. But other than that the album rocks.

This is a funny soundtrack with a talented cast

Eric Idol and John Du Prez bring the story of the search for the Holy Grail to the Broadway stage. I really enjoyed this listening to this album. All of the cast members give excellent performances in their roles. The soundtrack not only provides the lyrics these songs, but it also describes what happens on stage when these songs are performed. I felt like I was actually watching the show just listening to this CD.

David Hyde Pierce sings a very great song entitled You Won't Succeed on Broadway. This is a very funny song in which he sings that you can't succeed on Broadway if you don't have any Jews. Hank Azaria lends his talents here in his role as Lancerlot. His name is Lancerlot is a very upbeat dance number and one of my favorites. I enjoyed the track Laker Girls Cheer. It sounds very funny. I also liked the song Always Look on The Bright Side of Life. This is a happy song performed by Tim Curry who plays King Arthur. This is a kind of song you would sing to a friend just to cheer them up.

Sara Ramirez is such a great singer. She performs on several numbers on this soundtrack in her role as Lady Of The Lake. My favorite is Find Your Grail. This song shows off Sara's powerful voice. It is a song about letting nothing stop you from achieving your goal. Sara also sings a song with Christopher Sieber who plays Sir Gallahad entitled The Song That Goes Like This. This song is romantic and funny at the same time. I really enjoyed this track. This soundtrack is excellent. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys good music or anyone who needs a laugh. I hope to see Spamalot on Broadway in the near future.

Madonna sets the standard

Whilst Music is not as introspective or deep as Ray of Light, it represents another phase in the magnificent career of the queen of pop. If Ray of Light was a soul-searching, reflective album resulting from the birth of Lourdes, Music could be seen as a result of Madonna's rediscovery of love in the form of hubbie Guy Ritchie. What a result it turns out to be. Whilst not as consistently good as Ray of Light, which was only let down by the lacklustre 'Little Star' and 'Candy perfume girl', it has some sublime high points which make up for its flaws.
The move to Mirwais and away from Orbit is a good one, the Orbit produced tracks generally fail to match up to the Mirwais ones. Whilst Europe is familiar with the amazing one-hit-wonder French acts, who produce sounds that are quite unique and quite brilliant, this marks the first time that a major artist has made use of them and produced some quality tracks. Daft Punk, Modjo, Stardust and Cassius have all given us just one track that got people grooving, Madonna has taken it a step further. The standout tracks are:
1. Music - Very Daft Punk-esque. Ali G on the video - fab.
2. Impressive instant - About that moment when you see someone across a crowded dance floor, you know you want them and no one else matters. The song provides a 'moment' itself, a moment of pop ecstasy. If only all songs could be this good! This song alone is woth the price of the whole album.
3. Runaway lover - The best Orbit produced track on the alubum. Very trancey.
4. Don't tell me - Should win the Grammy for 'Best pop song featuring a banjo' :)
5. Gone - No one else seems to like this, but I think that this guitar led, Travis-esque track is one of my favourites.
This record will most likely be the benchmark for pop artist to aspire to, that is, until the next Madonna album.
