That 70's Album

...in favor of the chart or AOR hits. Like I did when I first bought this album in vinyl. I mentally tuned out "Black Cow" as I waited for "Peg" for its top-40 exposure or "Deacon Blue" for its appeal to the fusion fan in me. But "Cow" is a plain-spoken funk number about a decadent lover done in the 16th-note shuffle that was to stand Fagen in good stead through both of his solo works. Not to mention the fact that there's an elegantly understated Rhodes piano break in the middle worthy of anything by Hancock or Corea. When I upgraded to CD, this one was the obvious first one. Look on "Decade" and you'll see more songs from this album represented than from any one of the others

Unbelievable!

Michael W. Smith, again came up with a brilliant album. The song "Anna" brought tears to my eyes. As usual, Smitty shows his true, compassionate heart in this album. I can't wait for you to hear it.

Bad intonation

Ms. Jo is a FABULOUS coloratura...truly inpeccable. But this? This is NOT quality...she shows terrible intonation (out of key) and her tonality is really not anything special, nor is it worth listening to more than once. I am a great fan of Sumi, and I truly enjoy most of her work...but this is perhaps a side of her voice best kept "low profile," for it displays very little talent.
My voice teacher told me that to be a coloratura someday, I would have to practically "live" in the upper register...well, I can see what she meant...it seems that most coloraturas to not have much of anything else!~
