Incredible

Nyman does it again! This lively and terrifying score has much to offer. Themes recur throughout the album, but each cue is a distinct piece. Those looking for typical Nyman instrumentation (i.e. saxophone) may want to look elsewhere. Here, these two Brits, the other Blur's Damon Albarn, give us a score filled with Amerciana. Also featured are tracks by Quiltman and Philip Phile which are worked into the score. There are also to cues of Stephen fOster music played by Foster's National Orchestra that sound deliberately bad. These are probably source cues (the film doesn't come out until tomorrow). Check out "Colquon's Story," "Trek to the Cave," "The Pit," "Boyd's Journey," and "Ives Torments Boyd and Kills Knox" in particular. "Run" sounds like what would happen if Philip Glass wrote a square dance.

The Best Album You Never Heard

This is, quite simply, a masterpiece. Although perhaps inextricably linked to its moment in time (1969), what a moment that was! This album is an epic, an adventure, stirring, moving, enlightening, thought-provoking and much more. Julie Driscoll sings like a kind of beautiful and demented revolutionary angel, Brian Auger is (as always) right on point, and it simply baffles me that this mind-blowing album isn't much better known. People, you need this music! It's rock, it's jazz, it's gospel, they incorporate Nina Simone, Miles Davis, Oscar Brown Jr., the Staple Singers and Laura Nyro material, the vocal and instrumental work is top-notch, and the whole thing hangs together beautifully. You will never ever forget this album after hearing it, and it's about time it received a proper CD reissue. Order this absolute treasure pronto....

Great!

Reading the other customer reviews of this CD, I was amazed by the number of remixes/edited songs mentioned. Perhaps my past ignorance of how Madonna songs sound made me imprevious to these versions. I think it's a magnificent CD that I can listen to over and over again. And seeing as how I haven't heard the original versions (supposedly) of said remixed songs, I'll be content with these versions which I am now familiar with.Great collection, well worth your money simply for the pop culture lesson taught.

A MULTI TALENTED LADY CAPABLE OF MUCH BETTER!

As much as i love Madonna, this dreadful comedy, which has the wafer thin plot of a lawyer finding it difficult to cope with his client (Madonna), recently released from jail, is one of the worst films i've ever seen. Its not as bad as SHANGHAI SURPRISE but the whole thing screams along at a hectic pace, holding very few laughs and has no depth what so ever for you to even begin to like the characters. Forget it!
