I Love Whitney Houston's Music

I love this greatest hits album. I brought this CD a week after it came out, I was dying to get this CD; I bought the last one on the rack at K Mart. She needed to make a greatest hits album; of all those #1 songs she had. My favorite song by her is, "I Will Always Love You." And I will always love your music Whitney. If she wasn't going to make a greatest hits album; then I was going to make one for myself. I enjoyed having this CD,I listen to this CD mostly everyday. It is only two songs she didn't have on this album that I liked and they are, "Just the Lonely Talking Again" & "Count on Me" with CeCe Winans. I wore this CD out that it needs to be cleaned now.

Title: Brian Wilson Presents Pet Sounds Live

Incredible in the flesh, less so on dic

First, let's make one thing clear: the Royal Festival Hall shows at which this album was recorded were staggering. They were quite the most emotional musical experiences those present would have experienced. Grown men - myself among them - were crying. To hear those songs - not just the Pet Sounds material, but the Smile songs - performed by the man who wrote them, back from more than 20 years of staring over the abyss, was an astonishing experience. And Wilson's band were magnificent, rising to the occasion perfectly. Wilson himself, though fragile, was plainly on good form, and in an audience of the devout his own errors were viewed indulgently. But this isn't a gig for the converted, it's a CD on general sale. And facts must be faced: those BW/Beach Boys fans who clog up Wilson's messageboard claiming he's in the best voice of his career are way, way, wide of the mark. His voice is tattered and frayed, straining and yearning. Given the intimacy of the concert hall, and the nature of the material, that can be a positive: it accentuates the melancholy at the heart of the material. On record, however, it sounds like a bloke who's really struggling to hit the notes and to enunciate the lyrics (and let's not forget, these songs weren't written to be performed straight through by Wilson. There were other singing Beach Boys). The backing is magnificent, and Wilson loyalists will probably love it, but this is not an album for people who just fancy hearing Pet Sounds. I've played it to them. And they laugh. "You're kidding," they say."This is meant to be classic?"The problem is the fiercely protective unanimity that BW hardliners take: Brian is a genius (granted, though I'd perhaps apply the past tense), and everything he is involved with is, therefore, inestimably wonderful ...Brian Wilson is a deeply damaged man who, for a few years, was touched by the hand of God. That's more than almost all of us will ever manage. Isn't it enough? It's great that he's able to play this material again, but let's not pretend that God still hovers over him at the piano.

Ruben and Kimberly Locke!!

Everyone is polished and professional. An excellent album. The clear standouts are Clay's amazing version of "On the Wings of Love," Rueben's "Superstar" (although I must say I really prefer the live version) and Trenyce's "Let's Stay Together." The rest of the cast are in fine form as well.
I'm missing Vanessa, however. I'm not sure why she's apparently been dropped from the recordings and tour. Yet another American Idol scandal perhaps.

Title: Metamorphosis

Ah, yes, Hilary Duff.....

...every "tween" girl's role model. Everyone seems to love her, and when I say everyone, I mean mostly 6th grade girls and XYZ nerd boys. Not to insult her fans, for you probably have accurate reasons for liking her, but Hilary is a bit boring. Sorry. She's not such a great actress, she likes designer labels and she's isn't someone I look up to, even though she's older than me and therefore, a candidate. Let's get to the CD:
You may be confused, since I've given this album 5 stars and I've just recently pretty much flamed Hilary Duff. I love this album. It's that simple. Hilary is a gorgeous girl with a lot of charisma, and her voice is strangely soothing. "So Yesterday" tends to grow on you, and it's nice to hear after a breakup or sing at a karaoke bar. "Come Clean" is truly a work of art. It's a fantastic song. So is "Little Voice" (although this is a cover song) "Where Did I Go Right?", "Anywhere But Here", "The Math", "Party Up" and "Metamorphosis". I love it so much because it has a new sound! It's original! Her voice relaxes my mind and puts me at ease. She's just all and all a wonderful aspiring vocalist who I feel will be around for a long time. I don't want to give else anything away about this album, so just have a listen. I almost guarantee even if you're not a Duff fan, you'll like it to some degree. It's just one of those albums you have to hear to believe.
