Just a great FUN album

Ah...I remember driving around for hours and hours, going nowhere in particular, with the 8-track (!) of this great album as the soundtrack for my adventures....I don't know how to pin it down -- whether it's John's GREAT vocals, the driving beat of every song, or just that unexplainable "spirit" present in the music as a whole -- but this is one of my favorite John it, remember John, scream out the lyrics, and it'll keep a smile on your face!

In fact, I got a little crazed, listening to Andrea Bocelli on the way to and from work and other places around town. I don't think I took it out of my car's cassette players for over 2 weeks!

good anyway you look at him!

i had the pleasure of seeing michael perform about a week ago as an opener for peter murphy's 2002 dust performance. the man has the guts to go out on stage armed only with his awesome voice and a danelectro. very, very talented, very sarchastic, and darker than most goth i've heard. i didn't know whether to cry tears of pain or joy when listening to this after the concert. i also got to meet him after the show; he's a pretty nice guy, very serious about his music, and i think he should have many more fans than he has. pick this up and do not be disappointed! the power is with mr. sheehy!

An honest review from a die-hard fan

The problem with this CD is it's too long, which makes it difficult to listen to without skipping a few songs and there are too many fillers that could have been left off the album and used as B-Sides. It starts off with the brilliant UNBREAKABLE, a great R&B song that's completely different from what's on the radio today. Then there's HEARTBREAKER and INVINCIBLE, both of which sound like they could have been on Dangerous. There isnt anything new in terms of lyrics, they're both about Michael chasing some girl. Then we move onto the ballad section, with BREAK OF DAWN, reminiscent of the Off the Wall and Thriller era ballads, HEAVEN CAN WAIT and BUTTERFLIES on which MJ sounds amazing. YOU ROCK MY WORLD kinda reminds me of Remember the Time and is really good. Butterflies ends the ballad section and after this the album goes downhill. Speechless, Dont walk away, You are my life are all cheesy love songs, Lost children and cry are the new Heal the World's and are horrible. The only uptempo songs on the second half are Privacy, another song about the media as if we needed another one after all the songs on History, 2000 Watts is too N Sync. Threatened is an attempt to uptade Thriller, sadly it's [bad]. The only good song on the second half is WHATEVER HAPPENS, which is new territory for Michael, featuring Santana. Overall, he's used many different styles as he always does but the album doesnt flow like, say, Dangerous. There isnt much here that he hasnt done better before, like i said, with the exception of whatever happens and butterflies. When you listen to some of the tracks on their own, you realise how great they are but it is impossible to listen to this album from start to finish.
