The "real" American Idol! Clay Aiken

I really enjoyed the first CD single by Clay Aiken--I had rooted for him from the beginning, and really felt that vocally speaking he should have taken home the title. However, he is probably better off as he has no "title" to tie him down. His voice is amazing, and his rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Waters is powerful. He definitely makes the song his own and he really nails the ending! As a vocalist, myself, I would have to say that his voice is superb and very rich, and he sings with so much feeling! This is the Night is also a great song--it has a really different feel to it--almost reminiscent of the 80s--which of course is my generation! I really think that Clay's popularity shows that popular music in general is finally turning from "popstars with looks but no talent" to more of an appreciation for someone who can actually sing. Shame on Simon for repeatedly saying that Clay did not "look" like an American Idol, and Ruben did? Don't get me wrong, I really liked Ruben also, but the bias on the show was very evident in the final month or so of the competition. It was exciting to see that America proved Simon wrong, and Clay did so well. I really think you will enjoy this cd, and I know I can't wait for his debut album in the fall!

Splendid!

I remember when I was a little boy and I watched the John Denver and Muppet Christmas special on TV. My mother bought the LP for me, and I listened to it so much that I wore it completely out. I was overjoyed to find it available on CD, and when I listen to it, the memories flood back to me...this is the true joy of a childhood christmas. Not only is the album funny and witty ("Little St. Nick" with Animal flying into a fit over the line "run run reindeer!"; the round-robin on "Christmas is Coming"; the Muppets playing off each other's styles in "The 12 Days of Christmas") but often haunting and beautiful, particularly "Where the River Meets the Sea" and "A Baby Just Like You". Somehow, I find the meaning of the holiday wrapped up completely in these two songs. Everything on this is a treasure, a true tribute to the Jim Henson's gentle genius and whimsy. Even if you don't like John Denver (and I usually don't), even if you don't remember the special, please buy this album for you and the people you love.

Kenny G is better?

Even he would never say that. I'll bet the same writer feels Meatloaf is better than Sinatra.
