Benchmark for future work.

Excellent album. A fullstop to the seventies work that consolidated Glam-Rock and also completes the Berlin period. The man himself says (alas not personally to me)that anytime he releases a new album it is compared to this. "Fashion" is harsh and catchy but not as harsh as "It's No Game #1". Everything that one might love about Bowie is on this. "Ashes To Ashes" is an exorcism of the past and the likes of "Kingdom Come" look forward to... um... the 90's when he was worthwhile again. This is still timeless. Too much is going on to date it. Always more than a magpie of other styles, Bowie leaves a template for other, lesser, bands to build into the 80's. Some of it worked and some of it didn't. His new stuff is compared to this because there was such a big gap before he did anything as good again.

He is born to do it

OK, his sophomore album. It's ok. He changes his style a little bit, still so Craig David. But personally, I still stick with the "Born to do it".More electronic elements added in "slicker than your average". It is still by Craig David. Changes do not make his music go bad. It is still a good one.

The Mother of All "Music"

Expanding somewhat on the musical seeds she planted with her previous set RAY OF LIGHT, Madonna's MUSIC is a slightly less serious affair in comparison to the previous album. Unlike her last few efforts, which were marked by alot of introspection, MUSIC takes the carefree route, at least for much of the album, in a way similar to that of her first two albums. The title tune is one of her most addictively catchy singles in years, and follow-up 'Don't Tell Me', though not upon first listen, eventually works itself firmly into the brain. Which actually can be said about much of this album--for every 'Music', there's an 'I Deserve It'; not every track here is particularly memorable upon first listen, very much like her previous EROTICA. Once you sit down and give it a few spins though, you'll definately be humming much of the music found within. Other instantly memorable standouts include the tweaked-out techno of 'Impressive Instant', the anthemic 'Runaway Lover', and 'What It Feels Like For A Girl', arguably the lyrical standout of the set--why it wasn't a huge hit is unfathomable to me. All in all, though it doesn't command the overall lyrical scope that RAY OF LIGHT or LIKE A PRAYER mined, MUSIC remains another exquisite step in the ever-evolving music of one of pop's true icons.

CLAY SHINES IN "MEASURE OF A MAN"

I JUST RECEIVED CLAY'S NEW CD AND COULD NOT WAIT TO OPEN IT TO HEAR IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. I THINK THIS CD IS EXCELLENT AND AM SURE THAT EACH NEW CD HE MAKES WILL BE EVEN BETTER....... IT IS SO NICE TO LISTEN TO SONGS THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THE WORDS AND ARE NOT WORDS THAT HAVE TO BE CENSORED. CLAY IS TRULY TALENTED AND HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!! I THINK MY FAVORITE SONGS ON THE CD ARE "THE WAY" AND "WHEN YOU SAY YOU LOVE ME" ALTHOUGH ALL THE REST OF THE SONGS ARE GROWING ON ME FAST. I HOPE THAT CLAY JUST TAKES ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT HIS FIRST CD AND USES THEM TO HELP MAKE HIS NEXT CD EVEN BETTER JUST LIKE HE DID ON AMERICAN IDOL. CLAY, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND I LOOK FORWARD TO ENJOYING THIS CD AND ANY FUTURE CD'S YOU RELEASE!!! I THINK YOU ARE PERSON WITH A LOT OF TRUE TALENT AND INTEGRITY.... GOD WILL CONTINUE BLESS YOU!!!!! -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOVEMBER 30TH......
