Spiritual Pageantry and Melodic Wizardry

John P. Kee and The New Life Community Choir have scored with this collection of worship and praise. Starting with the uplifting "Come In" the group sets the stage for a listening experience of monumental proportions. The title cut is featured next and it is a superb example of urban contemporary gospel with its danceable bass and percussion. "I Do Worship" is beautiful and reflective, while "Turn Around" is a hand-clapping gospel gem. "We Made It" sounds like a testimony sincerely delivered from "The Amen Corner."
The traditional "Lord, Help Me to Hold Out" is given new life by its extended ending, depending heavily on the band's backing mixed with a strong choral accompaniment. "Thursday Love" is "right on time" with lyrics and music.
The piece de resistance however, is number eight on the disc: "Thank You Lord (He Did It All)." This tune has a New Orleans flair with its jazzy trombone solo and Kee's vocalizations have never been stronger.
"I'll Be Your Everything" is softly and powerfully presented. "Mighty God" elevates one to heavenly bliss. "Going Home," likes its title, makes the listener appreciate the Lord's works on our behalf. "Clap Your Hands" makes one do just that! And finally, "I Bow Out" is the perfect conclusion to this fine recording.
For those who enjoy "tickling the ivories," there is also available an accompaniment piano book that can be purchased separately.
By the way, I purposely eliminated commenting on cut number 13.
If you can't something good, I was told, then don't say anything at all!

this is why i love old recordings

This is a wonderful disc that was recorded in the 1950's. It features an outstanding violinist playing two very good pieces of music.
Oistrakh's violin is featured quite prominently throughout both performances, at times even a little more than I would prefer. I do not know how much this is due to the fact that he is playing with a less-notable orchestra & conducter, or how much it is just the result of older recording techniques. Regardless, Oistrakh shows that he is capable of carrying both pieces with plenty of personality and some amazing displays of his virtuosity. The recording manages to capture the wonderful richness of his tone, which is every bit as gritty as it is graceful. Although I would not characterize the orchestra's sound as exceptionally clear or colorful, it comes through very warmly and with enough strength to create some very moving music.
For anyone who enjoys this disc, I would also highly recommend the Testament label's recording of Rostropovich playing the Dvorak concerto.

ANDREA ~ Classy Pop at it's BEST !

One cannot help but be impressed with the absolute quality, pitch, volume and control of Mr. Bocelli's vocals. This new CD was a gamble. It risks alienating his pro- opera/classical fans while boldly targeting a broad audience base. The production and material selection on this project was carefully designed to seek out the audience base currently unfamiliar with Andrea.

The gamble paid off.

The CD has been beautifully crafted and designed to easily embed itself into any casual dinner party, social function or most adult get togethers. The CD "Andrea" is relaxing, hypnotic yet very entertaining. However, Bocelli won't be able to convert that die-hard Britney crowd but he may be able to cross over into the major market due to the excellence of this product.

This is the perfect gift to offer any avid fan of Celine Dion or Josh Groban. Bocelli is a singer's singer! The collection of material on this cd is mature yet light. The track "WHEN A CHILD IS BORN" is the true highlight from the CD, a familiar melody that is bound to lyrically touch the heart of any parent. Ultimately, the true test will be to see how Universal can persuade North American radio to play this artist and his material on the airwaves. This is the perfect gift to offer any avid fan of great vocalists. This is a CD that you'll audition for years to come. Truly worth the money!

this musical/spoken word release is absolute comic genius, and who could expect any less from a kid in the hall? alternately hilarious and almost frightening, i highly recommend listening to this under the influence of the your favorite vice. daddy's on the drink is eerily acurate for anyone with an alcoholic father. grade 8, eraserhead, lift me up and heroin pig are some of the more bizarre and hilarious. every track is pure bliss. if you're a kith fan, check out scott's book-buddy babylon, available from amazon as well. peace, ejwerpdogg (master of funk... and evil! )
