David Gray - The next Big Thing

I am sending copies to all of my friends and relatives for Christmas. For those of you who aren't familiar with DG, my guess is that you soon will be. This album has gone triple platinum (!) in Ireland, and David is now beginning to sell out 10,000 seat venues there. Once this album is distributed domestically and he goes on tour in 2000, he is sure to claim his rightful place in popular music. So buy it for all your friends and tell them you heard it first!

good collection

With the exception of "Stone Love" the hits seem to be covered in this collection. The remixed version of "Celebration" is awful; the inclusion of it instead of "Stone Love" is a travesty.
As is often the case on these collections, you get the butchered "single" version of some songs instead of the album version. Unfortunately, on this disk "Too Hot" and "Ladies Night" are definitely the butchered versions. There may be others; those two I'm sure about.
The liner notes include a six paragraph bio of the band and the song listings give the highest billboard chart position for each song, and the album from which the song was taken.
A good collection from one of the few successful disco groups that wasn't driven to Europe when disco died in the U.S. Four stars instead of five because of the "Celebration" travesty.

More genius from John

There are very few people in music who can truly be called geniuses. John Frusciante is one of them. The single Going Inside is of course on To Record Water, but it is the 4 non-album tracks that every Frusciante fan must buy this CD for. Time Is Nothing is a beautiful, mellow instrumental track. Those of you looking for a touch of that Niandra feel, like I was, will find salvation in So Would've I. The Last Hymn and Beginning Again are also great songs. Buy this import quickly, because I'm sure it will go out of print very soon. It is worth every penny.

The Unexpected

Wow, I didn't even read the reviews for this CD before I bought it, so I had no idea that it was going to be a "soundtrack" for a movie. So of course I was expecting sound changes, a various set of sounds to fit the mood of previous Northern Exposures CDs.But no, it was nothing of the such, But in either case it's a great CD. It should be perfect for playing Counter Strike with. There are some unbalenced changes in the tracks but I felt that shouldn't go against my rating. The CD is good and all I can say is, where's the movie? I'm not quite sure how to explain the feeling from each CD, but like most people have said, Disc2 is the better pick. Only because it's more of a faster dance beat for clubbing. Disc1 just gets you started.
