4 Decades Of N'1 Hits

Never the biggest Cher fan, I was stunned by the droves of people across the country clamoring to her Farewell Tour concert. I never had much interest, although I'm sure she put on a good show.
Then I saw this CD. Sure are a lot of hits on it, so I put it in the CD player and was whisked away.
Aha! That is why Cher's fans said farewell numerous times! It's all explained in a FANTASTIC best hits album with twenty-one (!!) songs on it.
From "Dark Lady" to her remake of the "Shoop Shoop Song" from Mermaids, there is not one song that didn't have me singing.
There it is. I'm a Cher fan now.
So I must whole-heartedly recommend this album to fans and not-yet-fans alike, because it is packed with her best stuff.
See you at the next Farewell concert...

A new breed of trip hop from the old masters

Though there's some argument about it, Massive Attack is generally agreed to have invented trip hop in the early 90's. Two albums later, the genre has been reinvented--by the same group. Mezzanine rolls all the dark, lush textures of Massive Attack's previous work together, blending it more tightly and adding some more amazing guest vocalists. Groovier and more powerful than Portishead, darker than Hooverphonic, slower than a speeding bullet--Mezzanine, in my humble opinion, doesn't contain a single bad track. The songs here have somehow manged to simultaneously be some of the most sinister and beautiful works I've heard. Scroll up and check out the dark ravings of "Risingson," the lilting vocals of "Teardrop," the soft resignation of "Dissolved Girl," and the pure rhythmic power of "Inertia Creeps"--the samples can't quite capture the complexity of Massive Attack's sound, but they'll give you a good starter.

Doens't Get Any Better Than This

The early songs like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Your Song and Daniel to the 80's hits like I Guess That's Why They Call it the Blues and Nikkita to the newer songs like The One and the Circle of Life. This CD has it all.

I just got the CD in the mail yesterday, and I immediately listened to the entire album in my room, lying in bed, with all the lights off and the window covered. It's really the only way you can listen to it (although I'm not sure why... ) It has some great new stuff plus classics from the show like The Dave Song and The Doors. Buy it now. I said now, dammit.
