I love this CD!!

I'd really love to hear this album with Hilary's un-processed vocal tracks :) I don't deny that I have listened to this album because there are a few tracks with catchy melodies and cool instrumental highlights.

I'm just so very turned away by the "perfect pitched" vocals in today's music. Without auto-tuning and processing tools that today's producers use, these artists would probably not have multi-million dollar selling records. I mean, heck, I could take any "Joe-Schmo" girl into my studio, record some very flat, underpitched vocals and turn them into gold with just a few clicks of the mouse. Coming from a recording background, I love to hear that raw, natural vocal sound poke through the instruments and sit out on top of the mix. There's where you'll find real talent.

All in all, this album was very well produced melodically and instrumentally but the "synthesized" vocals need to go.

A record that goes in the wrong direction

Before I say my piece I must say that I am a big fan of Brian Eno. Not only his work as a producer, but his work as an artist as well. I dare say that some of his records (Before and After Science, Here Come the Warm Jets, etc.) are just as good, if not better, than some of the records for other bands that he has produced. But that is not the case on Wrong Way Up. In fact if I were to make a list of the worst records I have ever owned this may even make it to the number one spot. I could go on and on describing why I don't like it (boring songs, no melody, unenthusiastic vocals, etc.) but then I would have to write a novel and waste more time than this atrocious record possibly could. Do not be deceived that because this is a collaboration between two talented people that the product is good. It is not! If you want to waste your money than gamble, at least their is a chance you will get something out of it (unlike this record).

Harem.... unparallel

Again, Sarah Brightman and Frank Peterson have put together a CD that goes beyond the ordinary. The Middle Eastern theme is masterfully developed throughout, and even Mr. Armstrong's What a Wonderful World, envisions the beauty of the east and the world in total. Sarah's beautiful clear voice permeates all songs especially It's a Beautiful Day and Arabian Nights....and the inclusion of Ofra Haza, Nigel Kennedy, and Kadim Al Sahir add cultural authenticity and beauty. The blend of dance/pop/ballad beats makes the CD upbeat and happy and varied. The many orchestras and choirs take this CD from just a pop CD to way beyond that, and I am looking forward to the Harem concert, as it should be an unbelievable experience in audio and visual delight. I recommend this CD to music lovers everywhere.

Clay's the Best! However...

I couldn't wait to buy this CD. I wanted to hear "This is the Night" again, I loved it so much on the Idol show. I thought Clay nailed it, especially the powerful refrain. To my surprise, the judges HATED the song, even though they liked Clay's singing. Even an article on my MSN homepage trashed the song, calling it "god-awful". I don't understand it. I LOVE the song! Anyway, I must say I was the tiniest bit disappointed with the CD. Neither song is as exciting or powerful as on the show. Of course, part of the reason for that is that I also like WATCHING Clay so much. He's so adorable - watching him is so much fun. The "Night" song lets Clay's voice come through better than "Bridge" on the CD,where I thought the choir was a little too prominent (just let Clay sing!). I still like the CD very much, and I will never tire of Clay's voice. So, buy it, Clay fans, and support your Clay! He's one of a kind. I can't wait for a full album.
