I LOVE this cd, i first heard "push things forward" on the radio and fell in love with the accent, then after a few more listens i discovered the streets had a lot more to offer than a cute accent. the lyrics rock, the beats are unique and the cd is addictive and has a tendency to stay in my cd player for a long time. I admit they arent for everyone, but i definitly suggest everyone give this album a try!

Cheaper than the alternative...

Every composition on Kind of Blue paints a picture for you. Not a specific one, but one of deep, intangible moods. One can't really describe it, because it almost represents something beyond music: poetry in motion, if you will. If you don't own a copy, you owe it to yourself to have one.
I myself like to put on Flamingo Sketches and imagine a modern painting of a flamingo on the wall of a high rise apartment that has hard wood floors.
A writer for the New Yorker once wrote that listening to Kind of Blue was similar to being high on narcotics. Kind of Blue is the cheaper, healthier, and more attractive option.
Other than that, I really have nothing to add to all of the other reviews posted. This is a classic by every defintion (and I don't toss that word around very often).

This is THE cd to own

Honestly, a megahit off-broadway, this show was a hit before it opened!!!Before it moved to broadway!
If you can't go and see the show yourself, live, this is the best substitute I can think of!!!

The Shaw legacy goes on...

For anyone not familiar with Vivaldi's works other than his Four Seasons, this disc is a great way to introduce yourself to his work. The choral sound that Shaw encourages is always warm yet includes perfectly understandable diction. The delightful and perpetually driving rhythms in the piece are always clear. For many listeners and performers, the Et in Terra Pax (second movement) is the particular masterpiece of the work. With its longing suspensions and resolutions, it will move even the most tame of hearts. This is a must buy.
