Burrell & Coltrane

Along with many other recordings of this era, one can appreciate the art of performance rarely heard in today's recordings. The phrasing and interaction between the musicians are evident because the music is played with the emotion of the actual session, which can be lacking in modern recordings. Yes, the entire album was recorded in a short time frame that, unless I'm mistaken, indicates a very limited opportunity for overdubbing and the like, which often renders the product lifeless and sterile. It is one of my personal favorite recordings because Coltrane plays within the stylistic framework the song selection dictates and Burrell does likewise. Both of these musicians play emotionally and musically with the obvious goal being the beauty of the product, not technical proficiency as the inspiration for the project.

An Awesome Album!

As always, when it comes to Bj?rk, I was quite taken with this album. Every song creates a whole unique world for the imagination to roam. One can hear instantly that this album is not a "product" created only for money making, but there are a bunch of really creative people behind it. As it is typical of Bj?rk, the use of all kinds of different instruments and rhytms bring a feeling of newness to this album. When I first heard this album I thought to myself, "Finally something that I haven't heard a thousand times already" I think the best on this album is (in addition to Bj?rk's incredible voice, of course) the huge variety between the songs and the little intriguing stories told by every song. To like this album one must have an open mind and to be ready to hear something incredible. An awesome album!

YOU BETTER BELIEVE CHER IS BACK!

Even tho she says she never left, just decided not to work as much. This is welcome return to her "Take Me Home" music that sold lots of dance records in the late 70's. She has positioned her self with the best dance and remix producers and delivered a smashing upbeat cd. From the catchy "Believe" to the new take on "We All Sleep Alone", there is nary a dud in between. Look for the "Believe" to slowly break out across the nation, after all it is already the record of the year in Europe. If you are a Cher fan then this is the cd for you. If you like great dance music then this is definetly the cd for you. If you are looking for something to keep your workouts at the gym pumping then you got to get this cd, Cher is gonna help me stay fit thru this holiday season! Thanks Cher, you're one of a kind!

It's been too long...

It's been too long since I've heard a collection of solid rock anthems; this CD not only meets expectations but exceeds them.
Admittedly, I'm a music listener who feels old (and a little sick) when I hear the Backstreet Boys-like music, so I was immediately biased--really wanted to like this new Springsteen offering. Fortunately, it was easy.
Listen several times. It takes the few times to remind yourself what a rock anthem is supposed to sound like. The other times (and for my wife and I, there have been many) you just enjoy hearing some real, solid music again.
We don't think there's a dud in the bunch. The motivation for the CD is somber and retrospective, but the music itself is inspiring and strong.
