Rainbow, rainbow, rainbow!

A creaky old train slipped on the rails, spilled it's junked record collection, and various documentarian relics, and someone decided to provide folk guitar accompaniment.
A stretch of samplings and wrinklings, saturations and drips, The Books' Thought for Food is a loverly album dears.
Try to think of it as something ancient, meaning the near past, coupled with the presence of mind to not discount it, but to change it, to twist and frist it into a miscellany of true spirit. A brew for drinking!
Like on the song "All Our Base Belong to Them" starts "I was born on the day that music died" by a slow and low voice, there is no joy in this present that we have created, no tangible excitement, but we still make music.
We are used to the clich? of post-modernity, the neon Statue of Liberty clothed in pudding, wearing sunglasses.
Here, just because we are bringing seemingly disparate things together (sampling and guitar, quotes and a hip 1870's beat) but here, we believe in it, we accept it. We don't want to analyze it, or figure out the "symbolism" or the "gender issues," we just want to listen.
So listen, listen! Even if you have a heart condition.

Will All The Haters Please Shut Up?

Right off the bat, I've noticed that many of those who gave this album bad reviews have sais that it is for the Jessica/Britney/Christina generation. Not true at ALL. I can't stand all three of those bitches, and I still love Mariah. With that said, on to reviewing this album...

Mariah, what took you so long to come out with this? This could have saved your career after the Glitter incident. It's obvious that Miss Carey has learned to tone herself down quite a bit because the ONLY song where she goes into glass shattering mode is on the final track, but with it being a gospel track, it's somewhat appropriate. And to the reviewer who said that she is trying to turn "black", guess what? She IS black, or did you not know that?

Replacing this on CD

I had this for years on an LP record, no less. I long ago lost the ability to play it. I was thinking about it when looking for Yoga music, and decided to buy the CD. I like the entire album, but The Death of Aki has always been my favorite. If there was any justice in the world, another Sean Connery would come along. None of the other Bonds come close. John Barry is wonderful, as always.

Title: Global Underground 006: Sydney
Label: Global Und. [Studio]
Artist: John Digweed

a mix cd is hard to make worth the money. diggers has definitely done it here, and this is his first global underground release. hong kong has reinforced the quality of his mixing...but this is where it all began, way back with fortunato and montressor opening with 'imagine' the cd is mixed well, of course (who else sets the standard?). but mixing is expected on a big release mix like this, it's the track selection that makes it worthwhile. digweed makes a journey out of it. it's danceable and not to mention sexy as ever. play it at a club, play it in your room. quality, no doubt.
