WHAT A VOICE!!!!!!

In the new edition of webster's they should stick a photo of this to define "schmalz". Oh my god, is this what our music culture has devolved to?. This album was inflicted on me as I was in Border's the other day. I left without buying anything, which is unusual for me. By the way, cats are wonderful creatures.

Fantastic

I cannot stop playing this CD. A previous reviewer said this is what is wrong with recording co's today, no, this is what is right. Maybe now that Clay has come along we will stop this horrible music that is out there today. When giving a review of a cd you ask if the music is easy to understand - Ans-yes. Are the tunes catchy to sing along to - ans-yes. Do they make you feel good- ans-yes. This is the best CD that has been out in years.

Last three tracks best rock ever recorded

For the last three tracks, especially Incident on 57th Street and New York City Serenade, there are not enough superlatives to describe the lyrical mastery and vivid story telling. It's clearly some of the best music ever recorded. The segue from Incident on 57th Street into Rosalita will give you goose bumps in its beauty. Each song tells a story in which you can easily picture and feel the surrounding scenery and emotional complexity involved. No one does this better than 1970's Bruce. In E Street Shuffle the stories of myriad American's living on the semi fringe of society are described better than what most movies could do. During my college years I under went some tough economic times in which selling my CDs played a part. E St. Shuffle was quickly set aside to avoid the selling block. Anyone who purports to love great music can not neglect to hear this rosetta stone of rock...

What do I need with This?

If you are a broadway passer-by, someone who looks to getting to know just what's on broadway and not what's it like, someone who says he's seen all of the broadway shows after reading the "what's on listings" in the papers this is a CD for you. I don't own the CD but own all of the Cds from which songs were taken to make this CD. every musical has it's own style and kind of music, and this CD doesn't even take all the highlights. If you are into really experiencing something when listening to a cd, if you are a real broadway-lover and you are interested in modern musical-writing, every one of the original cast recordings (from which songs were taken to this CD-hairpsray, producers, millie, aida, b&b, boheme, moving out) will be a much bigger enjoyment for you than this one. and most preferabely- all of them! :)
