A Magical Marriage of Lyrics and Music

Essential if you are a true Elton John fan or appreciate perfect lyrics matched with incredible arrangement. Unbelievable collection and arangement not only of music and lyric, but of order of songs. From the title track that takes you somewhere else to the edgy blues of Tell Me When the Whistle Blows and the sanctuary of Someone Saved My Life Tonight, Elton presents an astonishingly perfect mix of style and emotion. This is only reinforced on side 2 by 5 songs that tell an amazing story of quest and flow together in a fashion which gives company to the Beatles' Abbey Road. This album is timeless and gets better with age; When I first listened to it, I sat with my older sister on our family room floor and was astonished at the mix of music with lyrics. My sister and I still listen to it and keep certain tracks sacred. The true talent of Elton John and Bernie Taupin shine and is absorbed by the listener. The songs are arranged to allow your very own story to unfold and stay with you and it is not an album to be missed.

"Billy Jean" (...).

This album is a definite THRILLER. Before this album was released, the SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER movie soundtrack was the biggest-selling pop/rock album in history. This album,Michael Jackson's second solo set on the Epic label, spawned seven Top 20 hits! This album was on the charts almost as long as Fleetwood Mac's RUMOURS album. In late 1982,the single BEAT IT came with the release of this album. The music from the song would be later recycled for "Weird Al" Yankovic's parody entitled EAT IT. The next single was BILLIE JEAN. The video was directed by Steve Barron, who would later direct the Paramount film CONEHEADS. WANNA BE STARTIN' SOMETHIN' is a discotheque favorite. HUMAN NATURE sounds cool. Also there's THE GIRL IS MINE which is a duet between Jackson and ex-Beatle Paul McCartney. McCartney later reciprocated with his song SAY SAY SAY from his PIPES OF PEACE album. P.Y.T.(PRETTY YOUNG THING) is also a discotheque favorite. then there's the title track,an ode to Halloween just like Ray Parker Jr.'s GHOSTBUSTERS. The video for the title track is not just a video. It's a mini-movie directed by John Landis, who directed the films "Animal House" and "The Blues Brothers". Ola Ray plays Jackson's girlfriend. They're in a movie theatre, watching a horror film. Ray found it terrifying so she walked out with Jackson following her. This album was produced by Quincy Jones who also produced Jackson's predecessor OFF THE WALL. After this album,Jackson would reunite with his five brothers as the Jacksons, and record their VICTORY album. Guest artists on this album include Eddie Van Halen of Van Halen and Steve Porcaro of Toto. Also take notice within the lyrics a pencil sketch of Jackson and McCartney pulling a woman's arms indicating the title of their duet. Jackson's next solo album BAD,released nearly 5 years after this one would be a megahit also. Hey,Jackson's not called the King Of Pop for nothing.

Simply Amazing

Ever since I bought Moby's CD, 'Play,' it is all I will listen to. I bought it expecting to hear some great techno dance music that I have come to expect from Moby. Moby gives his listeners some good industry-standard techno tracks, such as "Bodyrock," but in addition, he provides his audience with a wonderful sampling of spirited & jazzy songs that brought me quite literally to a higher level of listening. Songs like "Honey," "Natural Blues" and "Run On" quite simply make me happy to see that a techno artist is willing to try something new. What Moby has produced is one of the most innovative and moving CDs on the market. This is among the best albums I have ever purchased, and I recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing something new in the music world of techno.

Vintage John Williams

I bet John Williams loves doing Star Wars music. Here is a man who is one of the greatest composers alive. He's got the Oscars and the nominations to prove he's no fluke. Not to mention the record sales. When Williams is asked to do a Star Wars film the music is already basicly in place.
The music of Star Wars is fantastic. This soundtrack contains most of your favorite songs from the early films and has a couple of new ones that I think Williams and Star Wars fans will enjoy.
"Duel of Fates" is the best track on the soundtrack. Williams has really outdone himself with this song. I love the chorus in the background. They add a different demension to the song. The trumpets are absolutely fantastic. I play the trumpet and this is a trumpet players dream. The melodoy to the song is great and I have to give props to the London Symphony Orchestra.
This is a good album. I don't think it's as good as the early films or episode II, but I'm glad I own it. Fans of Star Wars will enjoy it, so will fans of John Williams. People who like classical music will also get a kick out of this one. You'll like it. Trust me.
