Label: Jay Records
Artist: Jule Styne
Rating: 5/5
Customer rating - 5 out of 5

"Peter Pan" starring Cathy Rigby just arrived in the mail today. I've played it 2 1/2 times so far and it's wonderful. Beautiful performances all around, and Cathy Rigby IS 12-years old and she IS Peter Pan! I'm going to have to order another CD as a gift.

Title: Black Cherry
Label: Mute U.S.
Artist: Goldfrapp
Rating: 4/5

I am surprised with all the gloating reviews here.
Goldfrapp's by-now-characteristic electronica sound combinations are initially impressive, especially because they accompany some very dreamy vocals and crunchy rhythms unlike other "trance" music out there, but on Black Cherry they seem to offer little reward for repeat listens.
This album is definitely geared more towards a faster crowd with at least six numbers in the groove mode. I particularly liked the relentless thumps of "Train", and the trip-hippy bliss of "Hairy Trees". Overall, the album makes for an exciting, pacy compilation.
But this also means that all too often the synthetics are freeze-dried, and there're no hidden depths or secret details that one discovers over repeated listens. The songs sound blander each time round.
Overall, I'd say it's a pretty decent purchase, but don't expect to be going back to it a lot. Excellent perhaps for background music while driving if you need to keep yourself awake.

Not what I expected....

Has everyone forgotten the late great Frank Sinatra. As a young man he was so thin but when he sang, he was awesome. Not very handsome but he had what it takes. Class and a great voice. Clay I can see nothing but greatness for you. I think your so cute and have such a sweet personality. Your voice is outstanding and it is so refreshing to see a talented man sing so beautiful and not have to girate, squrim or dress like a pimp to draw a crowd. You had done it all on your great talent and your wonderful personality. You mom must be so proud. Good Luck L.Shinaver

One of the true unique sounds in the past few years

I bought this album after I read a music magazine review that gave it four stars. They said that the guy rapping (Mike Skinner aka "Streets") is a UK Eminem. The only thing this guy has in common with Eminem is that he's anglo. That's it. However, he is as good as Eminem and paints an acurate picture of what it's like to be a twenty-something. The beats on this album are good. Some are "quad-step" I think, but some also have hip-hop appeal. Anyway he raps about lost love, smoking ... and chilling with friends, approaching girls at parties and just what it's like to be young. Combine great beats, an English accent, social views, and a great MC and you have one of the best albums of this year. Just get it, it so good and different that it's hard to even describe. Just buy this and enjoy, it's a 10 out of 10.
